Even before my business was born, I had a running list of names I might use for a future business. Anytime I thought of something I liked, I’d add it to the list. One thing to know about me is that I’m a bit of crazy cat lady, so 90% of the names were cat related. When I finally decided it was time to chase my dreams of starting my own accessories business, I knew it was time to narrow down my name choices. Read more>>

Our company name came from an inside joke. My producing partner is Greek from the island of Cyprus. We used to joke about Dionysus (the God of wine and entertainment) being a thick boy. It came up in our initial launch of meeting when discussing names and wasn’t taken seriously. As we came up with more and more names however, Thicc Boy seemed to stick out amongst them all. Eventually we said “It kind of just sounds good.” We landed on the name and never looked back. Read more>>

The genesis of our company’s name, Leaves of Leisure, was an enlightening moment I experienced while attending an art show at the Guggenheim in New York City. This particular exhibition delved into the concept of leisure activities across different eras, showcasing everything from Marie Antoinette lounging in her lingerie at the gardens of versailles to contemporary skiing escapades in Aspen. Well, growing up I was bullied in school, not for too long because I don’t play that lol. But I was darker than I am now and I got picked on about it. People loved ending the roast session by saying “with your black ass” or “that black ass girl” and they thought they ate not knowing I always loved my chocolate skin so it never phased me just made me better at roasting them back lol. The name U Blossom was revealed to me two years before I knew what to do with it and before I knew I was going to start my life coaching business. So I wrote the name in my journal to come back to it at a later date. Once my son went to college I stepped down from my management role and decide to go back to school. Read more>>

When I started my creative journey, I searched for a name that would embody my artistic individuality and stand the test of time, like the great artists and poets who came before me. I reflected on my life and meditated on the work I had accomplished with my books, “Moving Forward,” “Essence Of My Passion,” and “Black Soul.” Read more>>

I have always loved the term “joy,” and have thought way too hard about the difference between joy and happiness, what true joy means, and the power we have over the days we are given. To me, joy is a choice we offer ourselves despite our current circumstances-it is a decision to put our hope in what we know to be true despite how we feel. It’s much deeper than fleeting happiness or our mood. Read more>>

The name of my company is The Little Photo Den. My husband took me and my first born out to have a picnic at this beautiful waterfall on my first Mother’s Day and I remember sitting there with my family, wishing someone could follow us around a take pictures of us so that we could all be captured in the photos for this beautiful memory in this gorgeous location. So the name of my company is a Peaceful Pets of Savannah . I decided to name that because about 10 to 12 years ago I was going through a really difficult time in life and I literally wanted to find some thing that was peaceful in terms of a job and so When I decided how much I loved animals and how much they brought me peace then the name peaceful pets just sort of came to mind really because when I spend time with animals that’s when I feel the most at peace. Kristen & Lindsey Archer

Our last name is ARCHER, so our company’s name is a slight variation of that. ARCHd originally stood for “Archer’s Recycled Creative Home Decor.” When we first started our business in 2012 (as a hobby), we went “curb shopping” around our neighborhood for wood to use to create art. We live in a historic district in Midtown Memphis, where there were always home projects and renovations happening. Read more>>
