Looking back, I wish I had fully understood just how much I didn’t know at the time. I was always aware there was a gap between what I was doing in Barbados and what more established film industries were achieving, but I didn’t realize the full extent of what I needed to learn. Looking back on my artistic and entrepreneurial journey, there are several things I could have done differently in the early stages to accelerate growth. The first would have been focusing more on social media. From day one, I should have been actively engaging through stories and reels, which would have allowed me to connect with a much larger audience. If I could go back to when I first started Reclaim and Rethread, I would tell myself to go all in and do it full time. When I started R&R, I was doing it on the side of bartending. I wasn’t confident in myself that I could make enough income from my small business alone. I truly think this held me back. My business would always come second to my other job, and I was splitting my energy between the two. When I went full time in 2018, that is when Reclaim and Rethread really started to flourish.
