Hi Tyrice, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?

My story begins in the tight-knit community of Brownsville, Tennessee, where I was born and raised. Growing up in such a supportive environment, I developed a passion for helping others early on. This passion led me to pursue becoming an Occupational Therapist. Over the years, I gained extensive experience working with young children, helping them develop crucial skills during their formative years.

In 2017, driven by my desire to make a broader impact, I founded Children Therapy Specialists (CTS). My goal was to offer comprehensive early intervention services that could transform young lives. At CTS, we focused on providing personalized therapy that empowers children and their families, fostering growth and development in a nurturing environment.

While working with children during the pandemic, I noticed a gap in engaging and educational resources that cater to their developmental needs. This observation along with my love of Dragons inspired me to create “Dax’s Adventures,” an award-winning children’s book that combines captivating storytelling with vital developmental lessons. The book is designed to entertain young readers while fostering creativity, self-expression, and self-reliance.

Seeing the positive impact of “Dax’s Adventures,” I expanded the Dax universe to include an Early Learning Workbook and a plush toy, PLUSH Dax with a removable backpack. These tools are crafted to complement early learning curriculums, providing a fun and interactive way for children to develop fine motor skills, letter and number recognition, and emotional intelligence.

My journey hasn’t been without its challenges. Balancing entrepreneurship, authorship, and motherhood required perseverance and resilience. However, my unwavering commitment to helping children thrive kept me motivated. Participation in programs like Our Village United expanded my horizons and provided invaluable support.

Today, I continue to grow the Dax Adventures brand, envisioning a future where our resources reach families worldwide..

My journey is a testament to the power of compassion, creativity, and determination. I believe that by fostering these values, we can create a lasting impact on the lives of young children and their families

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?

It certainly hasn’t been a smooth road, and like any entrepreneurial journey, mine has been filled with its fair share of challenges and obstacles.

One of the significant struggles was the initial transition from working as an Occupational Therapist to becoming an entrepreneur. While I had a deep understanding of early childhood development, running a business required a completely different skill set. Learning the ropes of entrepreneurship, from managing finances to marketing, was a steep learning curve.

Another challenge was balancing my professional ambitions with my personal life. As a mother, it was crucial for me to ensure that my family did not feel neglected while I pursued my dreams. This required meticulous time management and a lot of support from my loved ones.

Funding was also a significant hurdle. Securing the financial resources necessary to start Children Therapy Specialists and to develop the “Dax’s Adventures” brand was not easy.

The creative process itself comes with its challenges. Developing “Dax’s Adventures” and its accompanying products require extensive research and collaboration with educators,and child development knowledge. Ensuring that the content is both engaging and educational takes a lot of time and effort so I am still learning.

Marketing and reaching our target audience presents another set of challenges. I feel like I am in the early stages, getting the word out about our products and services, building a brand presence and establishing trust within the community requires persistence and strategic planning.

Despite these struggles, each challenge taught me invaluable lessons and make me more resilient. Overcoming these obstacles has been rewarding, and seeing the positive impact of our work on children’s lives makes all the effort worthwhile.
