My journey started back in 2014 when I stepped into the role of caregiver. What initially seemed like a natural extension of love and responsibility quickly became a transformative experience, marked by personal sacrifices, intense emotions, and an unwavering commitment to support a loved one battling Alzheimer’s. Over time, this role deepened my empathy and my understanding of what caregivers endure daily, from physical exhaustion to emotional strain, all while trying to maintain a semblance of personal identity.

Losing my grandmother to Alzheimer’s became a profound turning point. In the midst of grief, I felt an undeniable pull toward rediscovery and healing. This journey led me to embrace activities that promoted my well-being and allowed me to reconnect with myself. I found solace in journaling, raising plants, and crafting, each activity helping me work through my experiences and rediscover my own passions.

This period of reflection and self-growth laid the foundation for what would become the current version of Vybrant Jewels. I wanted to create something that embodied the strength, resilience, and compassion of caregivers. I began developing products that go beyond practical use; they are symbols of encouragement and resilience. From journals designed to help collect thoughts to drinkware that promotes moments of relaxation, each piece reflects the caregiving experience.

Today, my goal is not only to expand this line but also to foster a supportive community for caregivers through Vybrant Jewels. With this community in mind, I collaborate with the Alzheimer’s Association and the Lupus Foundation of America to advocate for causes close to my heart. My journey has come full circle, allowing me to honor my grandmother’s legacy, support fellow caregivers, and provide products that resonate deeply with those in similar journeys.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?

It has definitely not been a smooth road; caregiving rarely is. When I first started, I was overwhelmed by the demands of balancing everything. The emotional weight was one of the hardest parts, watching my loved one slowly change and feeling powerless against a condition like Alzheimer’s. There were many days of self-doubt, feeling isolated, and having to put my own needs and dreams on the back burner.

Beyond the emotional toll, there were practical struggles, too—learning about healthcare systems, managing time, and facing the financial burdens that often accompany caregiving. Finding resources or support wasn’t always easy, either. I realized that many caregivers felt similarly unsupported, navigating this journey in silence.

The challenges didn’t end there. When I created Vybrant Jewels, I faced the uphill task of transforming my caregiving experiences into something that could truly support others. I wanted to create products that would resonate deeply with caregivers, but that also required finding the right designs, managing the business side of things, and connecting with a community that often feels invisible.

In the end, these struggles have strengthened my commitment to Vybrant Jewels and the mission behind it. The road may have been rough, but it shaped my purpose and taught me resilience, which I now hope to share with others through my work.
