Today we’d like to introduce you to Sydney Alleyne

Sydney, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?

My story begins in 2021 when I started my entrepreneurship journey! Pertinent Media Group was born and I was focusing on a little bit of everything – social media, content creation, writing, copywriting, consulting, branding etc. I quickly realized that I need to focus on the areas of digital marketing that I’m the strongest at, which are social media, email marketing, and paid advertising! Throughout 2021 and the beginning of 2022 I was still working full time and had the business on the side.

At this point in my life, I was stressed, burnt out, and just felt there was more to life that I was not experiencing. In November 2022 I surrendered my life to God and from that point on everything shifted- in the best way possible!! I began full-time entrepreneurship in 2023 and God blessed with me Let Go, Let God Apparel, and the Digital Marketing Discipleship Movement ( DMD Movement.)

Trusting God’s leadership and surrendering to Him is how I got to where I am today!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?

I wish I could say everything’s been super easy but it hasn’t lol. You must be adaptable, I’ve had to make shifts with how I do business, and make investments I never thought I would need to do, on top of managing day-to-day tasks. At times it can be overwhelming especially when you experience a day or a week where everything seems to go wrong. But with entrepreneurship, I’ve learned that you have to keep a positive perspective “L’s” or not losses their lessons. God will take the time needed to prune you so embrace the season of lessons. I’ve had plenty in the past 3 years.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?

The Digital Marketing Discipleship Movement ( DMD Movement) provides entrepreneurs and faith-based organizations with the resources and ongoing support to effectively communicate and glorify God in an online landscape.

Through this movement, a free and paid membership to a community of like-minded individuals is offered as well as an 8-week digital marketing coaching program. The community offers biweekly digital marketing newsletters, weekly prayer calls, 1-on-1 coaching, and more! The 8-week training will teach you how to become a Digital Disciple, after this program you’ll receive clarity, confidence, and currency.

God is at the center of everything we do. We encourage you to seek His leadership, so you can effectively apply the digital marketing skills learned in the program.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?

Risks make me anxious lol but I’ve taken some with my business! My risks have primarily been investing in business coaching and communities to help me elevate. I initially had the mindset I could do everything by myself and I was very wrong. God showed me early on that I would need help with the work I’m doing. 2 Corinthians 5:7 states, “For we walk by faith, not by sight.” I lacked faith that the investments would be worth it, I was caught up in what my current circumstances were versus where I was trying to go. God connected me with the right communities and people that I invested in and they have truly helped me elevate my business. Risks at times are needed to grow, you may not see an immediate return but over time I’ve found that taking the risk is well worth it!
