Today we’d like to introduce you to Linda Tang
Hi Linda, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Linda Tang founded Contingenci®, by Good Human LLC, in 2020 in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. Initially producing sustainable, performance reusable masks, the company has since transitioned to up-cycling these masks into pet beds and developing energy/water-efficient products for the veterinary industry. Contingenci® is now focusing on creating veterinary clinic products that help businesses save water, energy, and labor. Our quick-dry, comfortable & modular offerings include exam table pads, kennel cushions towels and more, designed to enhance efficiency in veterinary practices.
As the first carbon-neutral circular manufacturing facility in San Jose, CA, Contingenci® is proud to be both women and minority-owned, emphasizing sustainable upcycling solutions using deadstock materials from major outdoor brands like The North Face, Marmot, and REI.
As a self-funded startup, Contingenci® has navigated numerous challenges and learned valuable lessons along the way. Linda is passionate about fostering awareness and building infrastructure for a circular economy in California and across the USA. She advocates for government incentives and policies that educate consumers on sustainable practices.
As a fifth-year Asian female founder in the Bay Area, Linda aims to share her experiences and challenges with other aspiring minority female entrepreneurs, proving that sustainability can be profitable.
Her journey began with an aspiration to design high-tech, trendsetting action sports apparel, leading her to The North Face and the entertainment industry. While in college (USC), she launched “TeamTME,” a marketing initiative connecting brands with the college demographic. After graduating from USC and FIDM, she served as the Director of Marketing for THE SPORTS LINK, focusing on pro athlete endorsements and brand development.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Launching Contingenci® during the Covid-19 pandemic presented numerous challenges and obstacles that tested our resolve and adaptability.
1. Market Uncertainty: Rapidly changing market conditions made it challenging to project demand for our products. We had to remain agile, adjusting our strategies based on shifting consumer behaviors and preferences.
2. Funding Limitations: As a self-funded startup, securing necessary capital was a constant challenge. We faced financial constraints that limited our ability to scale operations or invest in marketing effectively.
3. Educating the Market: Introducing innovative sustainable products meant that we needed to invest time in educating potential customers about their benefits. Overcoming skepticism and building trust in our brand took considerable effort.
4. Building a Team: Attracting and retaining talented individuals who share our vision for sustainability in a competitive job market has been a struggle. We prioritized creating a supportive and inclusive company culture to overcome this obstacle.
5. Advocacy and Awareness: As advocates for a circular economy, we’ve encountered resistance to new practices that challenge the status quo. Building awareness and support for sustainable initiatives within our industry has required persistent outreach and education efforts.
Through these challenges, Contingenci® has learned valuable lessons that have strengthened our mission and commitment to fostering a sustainable future. We believe that overcoming these obstacles will ultimately enable us to inspire others in the journey toward a greener planet.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
About Our Business
Contingenci® by Good Human LLC is dedicated to creating innovative, sustainable products that positively impact the environment and the pet industry. Founded in 2020 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we initially focused on producing reusable masks for athletes and have since evolved to up-cycle those materials into pet beds.
Specializations
We specialize in sustainable upcycling solutions and pet soft goods crafted from deadstock materials sourced from major outdoor brands. Our focus includes energy-efficient products for veterinary clinics, such as anti-slip utility mats, orthopedic recovery cushions for vet cages, water-resistant treatment pads for exam tables, and more. These products are designed to address the challenges faced by clinics, including difficulty cleaning traditional materials and storage issues caused by bulky donations.
What Sets Us Apart
We are proud to be the first carbon-neutral circular manufacturing facility in San Jose, CA, and a women- and minority-owned business. We have a strategic domestic supply chain and partners and are proud of our 80% reclaimed materials.
Our dedication to sustainable practices and domestic production (San jose, California) distinguishes us from competitors. Our minority lead team comes from diverse & experience industries such as renewable energies, action sports/outdoor product engineering, industrial design, first-responder uniform manufacturing. We focus on designing lightweight, soft, and easy-to-clean products made from high-quality materials used by notable brands like The North Face. Our offerings are water-resistant, non-slip, and quick-drying, significantly reducing the burden on dryers.
We recognize the unique needs of veterinary clinics, providing customization options that allow for tailored solutions, including logo placement and color choices that match each clinic’s interior design. Our made-to-order model ensures delivery within a month, backed by a lifetime warranty, contrasting sharply with overseas competitors who offer limited customization and support.
Brand Pride
We are passionate about fostering a circular economy and advocating for environmental responsibility. Our innovative product designs allow us to meet real-world needs while minimizing our ecological footprint.
