Today we’d like to introduce you to Kim Peirano
Hi Kim, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
From an early age, my fascination with the depths of the psyche, a curiosity about who I am and why I am here, and the nature of reality and the universe has shaped my personal growth journey. Growing up I always felt some sort of separateness or otherness, like I didn’t belong and no one could fully understand or truly see me for who I really was. It led me down a path of unconsciously created problems that would eventually teach me who I was and how to hold that truth no matter what kind of situation I was in. It took a lot of work, struggle, pain, trauma and commitment to eventually find a place where I have been able to stand in my truth, regardless of how terrifying it still is sometimes.
Throughout my life, my career interests have undergone constant flux and metamorphosis, and I have come to appreciate this fluidity as a virtue. I began my collegiate journey interested in business, then graduated with an Art degree, worked in the insurance world briefly before discovering a love for yoga and eventually finding my way to acupuncture school. I graduated from the Acupuncture and Integrative Medicine College in Berkeley in 2010, became a Licensed Acupuncturist and opened a private practice; Lion’s Heart Acupuncture & Wellness. In 2018 I received a Doctorate of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine from the Pacific College of Health Sciences. In my relentless quest for knowledge, I sought further professional development by successfully completing a Certified Nutritionist program, a Beyond Quantum Healing program specializing in past life hypnosis, and a comprehensive year-long training in Jungian Depth Psychology Coaching through The Creative Mind Method and becoming a Certified Hypnotherapist specializing in medical hypnosis. Moreover, since 2013, I have devoted myself to rigorous weekly training in meditation, quantum healing, and timeline healing techniques, becoming a proficient meditation instructor and accomplished energetic healer.
Drawn to the realm of coaching by the natural evolution of my acupuncture practice and propelled by my profound intrigue with consciousness and its intricate interplay in the manifestation— or lack thereof—of our lives, I gravitated towards this profession. My in-person acupuncture practice has honed my expertise in delivering mental and emotional healthcare, offering support during pivotal life transitions, and addressing the physiological ramifications stemming from such transformations, including pain, illness, and even terminal diagnoses. These thematic elements have seamlessly woven themselves into the fabric of my coaching practice. In addition to seeing patients in person for acupuncture at Lion’s Heart Wellness and online coaching I am also a volunteer for the Living / Dying Project providing End of Life Spiritual Counseling, and the Found and Director of The Integrative Healing Institute.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely not! It’s been full of ups, downs, struggles of all kinds and occasionally some crippling self doubt. I’ve thought about completely changing career paths more times than I can count, and I have changed many things and aspects about my work to honor that desire for change along the way.
One of my biggest struggles and hold backs was falling to the trap of manifestation and spirituality as a ‘cure’ for things I lacked in life. I found myself deep into a new age spiritual cult where I spent 8 years, being gaslit, emotionally and psychologically abused and made to think and believe that every problem I had in life was of my own creation. And of course, the solution to those issues was never to find professional help or learn skills I lacked, it was always to do more spiritual work, which inevitably never paid off.
After leaving that group I found a new clarity I never had before. I was able to see where my true deficits were and how to remedy them – by learning the skills and tools I lacked and putting in real effort in lieu of excessive mediation or paying for spiritual healing.
My life blossomed and I felt more grounded and present than ever. And while there’s always ups and downs and struggle, I feel more competent to handle them instead of deflect or fall into the trap of self blame. That experience shaped my work to what it is today, I dove into learning more about coercive control, religious abuse and cults and now help other people like me, and their families break free from those toxic strongholds. I also use this work integrated into my acupuncture practice to help patients find ethical modalities and practitioners to help them instead of harm them.
We’ve been impressed with Courage to Transform, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At Courage to Transform, I offer online coaching and hypnotherapy sessions. I specialize in a few areas, including major life transition, cult, coercive control and religious trauma recovery, chronic pain and illness support, and end-of-life / terminal support.
My practice bridges the mind-body-spirit connection and aims to offer healing, even in the face of the imporability of being cured or a situation changing. By cultivating resilience, facing our own shadow and learning effective emotional regulation and communication we can shift and change not only the details of our lives, but our experience of them. And even when things won’t or cannot change, such as in the case of chronic or terminal illness, we can still experience healing and a change in quality of life by learning these skills and becoming more in tune with our inner world.
I take a trauma-informed, health and every size and anti-capitalist approach to my practice. This approach aims to empower individuals when we start to see that many issues in life are not just ‘manifestations’ of our own inner resistance as many spiritual teachers often tell us, but are a symptom of the greater circumstances and systems of oppression that hold many people back in life.
