Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelly Hubbell.
Hi Kelly, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Hi, I’m Kelly, a full-time working mom of three, and founder of Sage Haus.
I founded Sage Haus in 2023 and am deeply passionate about helping busy moms (and all parents) set up systems to achieve an equitable division of labor, or in some cases, delegating and outsourcing the mental load. I believe time is valuable, for everyone, and that certain seasons of life require that we break out of the “do it all” & “supermom” mindset and find our village, our support system.
After several years of carrying the entirety of the mental load for our family, working full time and experiencing serious burnout, I made an exhaustive list of all the things I was doing to keep our household running. I sat down with my husband and we had a conversation about this list, the value of my / our time and how we could work hiring and outsourcing into our budget.
Fast forward to today and we have a household dream team including cleaners, a meal prep chef and a house manager along with home systems like laundry & packing lists that keep us organized. Sage Haus was born from busy moms in my network who wanted to learn about the systems I set up and the roles I hired to support our family.
Today, Sage Haus is serving busy Moms on any budget with free programs, digital courses, group cohorts and 1:1 services.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Ha! Is anything worth doing ever a smooth road? Starting a business during maternity leave and then attempting to run said business on the side when returning to a full time role is challenging. But, I am what I preach! The only way I am able to put time and energy into Sage Haus is because I have an incredible team of people who take the mental and physical load off of my plate.
One of my biggest challenges is having the patience — I just want to shout about Sage Haus from the rooftops, but it’s a slow and steady climb into growing an audience and finding my “corner of the internet”.
The other part I struggle with is simply harnessing my passion. I’m still working full-time so I’m not able to dedicate the time and energy I want into Sage Haus, but I know that I’m doing the best I can and positively impacting as many people as I can while also taking care of my own family financially.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Sage Haus is a platform helping busy parents reclaim their time and energy by: creating home systems for the equitable division of labor, and outsourcing the mental load. My goal is to help Moms (on any budget!) get the support they deserve so they can feel more present in everything they do – whether it’s spending time with their family, growing their business or doing the things they love.
I started Sage Haus because I want to share my wisdom and learnings with other mothers and rewrite the narrative – to systemize the home for division of labor and normalize building a village. My “Sage Haus ” method can help busy parents move past the permission slip phase, and into practical solutions to relieve the mental load. My offerings include free resources to make the invisible, visible as well as digital courses, small group cohorts and one-on-one bespoke services.
I believe time is valuable, for everyone, and that certain seasons of life require that we break out of the “do it all” & “supermom” mindset and find our village, our support system. Every Mom deserves more support, and I’m building a platform to help them find it, regardless of their budget.
I want everyone to know that outsourcing can be beneficial to your mental health and marriage / partnership. I also think it’s important to note that hiring household help is more affordable, attainable and approachable than you might think. There are ways to get creative about outsourcing and finding more help.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I believe we’re on the precipice of a huge shift as it relates to the division of labor and overall equitability in our homes. I also believe Moms are ready to stop “doing it all” and are more open than ever to asking for help. There’s a mindset shift happening where we’re not longer competing to be a “supermom” and our culture is becoming more rational about the expectations on women who work inside and outside of the home.
