Hi Ilir, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
When I lived in Europe as a young boy, I always dreamed of achieving more, with New York City as my ultimate goal. After moving to NYC—by some miracle—attending university, and working for others, I realized my true desire was to work for myself. That initial yearning for more ignited a journey that taught me the power of ambition and perseverance. It all started with a dream, and through determination and hard work, I transformed that dream into reality, embracing the boundless opportunities that New York had to offer.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I believe all roads to success are inherently bumpy. We often only discuss the triumphs and overlook the obstacles along the way. However, every success is built on a foundation of rejection, challenges, and perseverance. It’s the hurdles we overcome and the resilience we develop that truly define our achievements. Embracing the journey, with all its ups and downs, is what ultimately leads us to greatness.

cafés in Europe that I used to visit with my mom, where we enjoyed hot chocolate, cake, and ice cream. We would talk about school or what she read in the newspaper that day, and we often met our neighbors and regulars who became like family to us. Everyone knew your name. That’s the atmosphere I aimed to create when opening Café Peanut—a community founded on respect, mutual support, and openness. I’m delighted to say that it’s exactly as I envisioned. I know every client’s name, their daily orders, and their journeys, and we exchange mutual support every day.
What makes you happy?
It’s the little things that bring me true happiness: the warm morning sunshine, my dogs eagerly welcoming me home after a long day at work, and my kids sharing their daily hurdles, dreams, or complaints about homework. Simple moments like grabbing a drink with my wife in our backyard while our cats try to catch fireflies and a good book remind me of life’s simple pleasures. These small joys fill my heart with gratitude and remind me that happiness is found in the everyday moments we often take for granted.
