Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Neilson
Hi Emily, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My journey has been a mix of twists, turns, and bold decisions—all grounded in my deep desire to help others create lives and businesses that feel aligned, impactful, and sustainable.
I spent over 17 years in Corporate Finance, working across both government and the private sector. I led complex projects such as ERP system integrations and strategic financial planning, which taught me how to streamline operations, manage large-scale change, and deliver sustainable growth for organisations. My work gave me the opportunity to lead teams, engage with diverse stakeholders, and uncover innovative solutions that helped businesses not just survive but thrive.
While I loved the challenges and problem-solving aspects of my traditional career, I started to notice a gap—both in my own life and in the lives of the people I worked with. For years, I had been helping organisations build stronger financial foundations and streamline their operations, but I couldn’t shake the feeling that I was meant to create something bigger, something more personal.
That realisation, coupled with the unexpected loss of my mum, inspired me to pivot. I wanted to blend my expertise in strategy and finance with my passion for helping people reach their full potential. So I transitioned into coaching and mentoring, focusing on women who feel stuck, unfulfilled, and unsure of how to step into their power and create a life they truly love.
Today, I split my time between two worlds that feel equally fulfilling. On one hand, I work as a consultant, helping small businesses and organisations streamline their operations, develop strategic plans, and unlock their next level of growth. On the other hand, I run a coaching business where I empower women to break free from the corporate grind, launch soul-led businesses, and design lives of freedom, purpose, and abundance.
What ties both of these passions together is my belief that small businesses and individuals have the power to shape the world. Whether I’m guiding a business owner through financial forecasting or coaching a woman to align her life with her deepest values, my goal is the same: to empower others with the tools, strategies, and mindset shifts they need to create lasting success.
For me, it’s about creating ripples of positive change and leaving a legacy. By helping small businesses and entrepreneurs thrive, we strengthen our communities and support meaningful work over the cookie-cutter mould of big corporations. That’s what drives me every day—helping others rise to their potential and creating a better, more connected world in the process.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road has been far from smooth—there have been plenty of bumps, twists, and detours along the way. But I’ve learned that it’s often through the challenges that we discover our true strength and purpose.
One of the biggest struggles I’ve faced is belief in myself. Stepping out of the safety of a stable 9-5 career and into the unknown of running my own business brought up so many fears—fear of failure, fear of what others might think, and even questioning whether I was worthy enough to make the kind of impact I dreamed of. Those fears didn’t disappear overnight, but each time I took a step forward, I proved to myself that I was capable of more than I thought.
On top of those internal struggles, life has thrown its fair share of challenges my way. Losing my mum unexpectedly, holding my grandfather’s hand as he took his last breath, and experiencing infertility and recurrent miscarriages were some of the hardest moments of my life. Grief has a way of breaking you open, and while it’s been deeply painful, it’s also given me a profound sense of purpose. I realised how short and precious life is, and that became a driving force for me to honour their memory by living a life that feels truly aligned and meaningful.
Health challenges have also been part of my story. Living with endometriosis has been a battle at times, and I’ve had to navigate the frustration and uncertainty that comes with chronic health issues. Add to that a few sporting injuries that required surgery, and it’s safe to say my body has taught me the importance of patience, resilience, and prioritising self-care.
And then there’s the emotional toll of change—letting go of relationships and friendships that no longer aligned with who I was becoming. It’s never easy, but I’ve come to understand that growth often requires us to release what no longer serves us, even when it’s painful.
While these struggles have been tough, they’ve also shaped who I am today. They’ve taught me how to face fear, trust my intuition, and build resilience. Most importantly, they’ve shown me that no matter how challenging life gets, it’s always possible to rise, to grow, and to create something beautiful on the other side of the struggle.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Emily Jane Neilson?
My business is all about empowerment, transformation, and helping both individuals and organisations achieve their full potential. I specialise in two distinct but deeply connected areas: strategic consulting for businesses and transformational coaching for women ready to step into their power.
On the consulting side, I help small businesses and organisations streamline their operations, develop long-term strategies, and create sustainable growth. With over 17 years of experience in financial management, strategic planning, and ERP implementation, I’ve become known as a trusted advisor for businesses looking to simplify complex systems and unlock new and innovative opportunities. What sets me apart is my ability to blend high-level strategy with a deep understanding of people—I don’t just focus on the numbers; I help businesses create structures and processes that truly work for the teams behind them.
On the coaching side, I work with ambitious women, particularly those feeling stuck in their 9-5 jobs, unsure of how to create a life and career they love. Through my transformational self-mastery program, Alchemy, and personalised 1:1 coaching packages, I help them build confidence, clarity, and self-belief. I guide them to align with their soul’s calling, step into their power, and create purpose-driven lives and businesses.
What sets my brand apart is the holistic approach I take. Whether I’m helping a business optimise its operations or coaching a woman through a mindset shift, my goal is the same: to create transformation that’s sustainable, meaningful, and aligned with their values. I incorporate everything from strategic tools and planning frameworks to energetics, mindset work, and universal principles to ensure the solutions I offer feel both practical and empowering.
One of the things I’m most proud of brand-wise is the trust my clients place in me. Whether it’s a business owner navigating a financial challenge or a woman taking her first steps into entrepreneurship, I’m honoured to be part of their journey. I’m also proud of the ripple effect this work creates—when people feel empowered and supported, they have the confidence to create positive change in their own lives, businesses, and communities.
What I’d love readers to know is that my brand isn’t about one-size-fits-all solutions. I believe everyone has unique strengths, challenges, and dreams, and my work is about meeting people where they are and helping them get where they want to go. Whether it’s a business owner looking for strategic guidance or a woman ready to transform her life, I offer tailored solutions and support that empower them to rise into their full potential.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
I’m a lifelong learner, and I truly believe that the right resources can be transformative—whether they spark new ideas, inspire action, or completely shift the way you see the world.
One book I recently finished and absolutely loved is 10x Is Easier Than 2x by Dan Sullivan and Dr. Benjamin Hardy. It’s a game-changer for shifting your mindset and focusing on what truly matters. I’m also a huge fan of the classics—titles by Napoleon Hill and Dale Carnegie have laid such a strong foundation for my growth.
Books by Dr. Joe Dispenza and Eckhart Tolle have been profound influences, especially The Power of Now, which was the catalyst for my spiritual awakening (and, funnily enough, it was recommended to me by a former CEO of a company I worked for). Other books that have left a lasting impact are Atomic Habits by James Clear, A Return to Love by Marianne Williamson, A Radical Awakening by Dr. Shefali Tsabary, The Big Leap by Gay Hendricks, and You’re Not Broken by Christopher Duncan. Simon Sinek’s work has also been instrumental in shaping my perspective on leadership and purpose.
When it comes to podcasts, I love The School of Greatness by Lewis Howes, MarieTV with Marie Forleo, and The Oprah Podcast. Each one offers a blend of inspiration, wisdom, and actionable insights that keep me motivated and grounded.
For blogs, MindBodyGreen is a go-to for holistic wellness and personal growth, and of course, I love Canvas Rebel for sharing stories that celebrate entrepreneurship and creativity.
These resources have been pivotal in helping me expand my mindset, align with my purpose, and show up as the best version of myself—both personally and professionally.
