Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Ekta Yadav , Md Mba Ms
Hi Dr. Ekta, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey began with a move to the United States at the age of five. From an early age, I was drawn to the wonders of science, embarking on lab projects by the age of seven. My fascination with biomedical sciences blossomed through participating in science competitions, sparking a lifelong passion to understand the intricate workings of the human body and its interaction with the surrounding environment.
Years later, this curiosity propelled me into the world of medicine. While studying as a double major (BS and BA), I also contributed to R&D teams for industry leaders like Procter & Gamble, assisting in the launch of innovative products like Tampax Pearl. My academic pursuits led me to delve into medical research, focusing on areas such as breast cancer, wound healing, and microbiology.
Seeking to deepen my expertise, I joined the renowned Medical Physiology and Biophysics program at Case Western and The Cleveland Clinic. This rigorous academic journey was complemented by an MD, an MBA and formal training as an IBM-certified data modeler, experiences that allowed me to blend the realms of biomedical sciences with technology.
Throughout my career, I’ve been driven by a mission to bridge gaps in medical literacy, a challenge I noticed even among the well-educated. My response was to engage deeply in the academic community, publishing articles, serving as an editor for esteemed medical journals, and contributing to research that continues to be widely cited.
The culmination of these experiences and a growing curiosity about the broader implications of medicine led to the creation of my podcast, Skincare Anarchy. Here, I explore the intersection of science, health, and everyday life, aiming to democratize medical knowledge and foster a more informed society.
In essence, I am a physician-scientist, entrepreneur, editor, award-winning scientist and podcast host, author, advisor, and board member. Each role is a chapter in a story that is as much about continuous learning and service as it is about personal achievement.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The path I’ve traveled has been anything but smooth, though I view each challenge as an integral part of my journey. Entering unfamiliar territories such as technology, podcasting, entrepreneurship, and advisory roles often felt like navigating a maze as an outsider. Each new venture required a significant shift in approach and a commitment to personal growth and learning.
Throughout my journey, I encountered skepticism and underestimation, particularly in my early academic days. I recall a college advisor who doubted my potential to advance to graduate studies; I proved her wrong within a month. Such experiences were disheartening yet galvanizing, reinforcing my resolve to succeed against the odds.
One of the most daunting challenges was the initial phase of bootstrapping my company. Like many entrepreneurs, I faced the daunting task of building something from nothing, relying solely on limited resources and sheer determination. This phase not only tested my resolve but also honed my skills in managing and expanding a fledgling enterprise.
The road has been lined with unsolicited negativity, a struggle that I know resonates with many women and minorities. However, each hurdle has only strengthened my dedication to my goals and my commitment to making a significant impact in every field I touch.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Don’t be afraid to fail multiple times and make sure every time you get back up, you take all the lessons with you. I believe in the power of hard work and grind that propels true innovation and progress in the world. To reference the famous words of Marie Curie, my personal philosophy towards success has always been in alignment with her opinion that “ We must believe we are gifted for something, and that this thing, at whatever cost, must be attained.”
