Today we’d like to introduce you to Cynthia Prieto
Hi Cynthia, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My career in marketing began over 15 years ago. I always knew I wanted to go into something creative. Marketing was a natural fit for that. I studied marketing in college and began working in the industry very soon after graduating. I started in a corporate setting, working and moving my way up in the marketing departments for companies in the financial industry, pharmaceuticals, and then manufacturing.
In 2020, the whole world flipped upside down with the pandemic. It was a time in my life where a lot was changing. My husband and I started our family a couple years earlier, so I had two small children at home. My role was changing at home and at work. I needed to make a decision about the future and what I wanted out of my career. Ultimately, I wanted control of my schedule, and I wanted to feel good about the work I was doing. Those were two things my corporate job wasn’t offering me.
2020 forced businesses of all sizes to change or get left behind. I knew there was a need for marketing support with these businesses. I knew I could help them. So with the support of my husband, I made the leap from corporate office job to marketing agency owner.
The plan was to start small knowing I had two adorable but demanding little priorities at home. But with the level of service and support I was providing my clients, referrals kept coming in. Needs grew and they grew quickly! That is how I reconnected with my now business partner, Jeff Nielsen.
Jeff and I worked together in a previous corporate job, and we always worked very well together. Jeff is extremely talented, hard working, and creative, so I knew that I could refer clients to him and guarantee they would have the same experience with him as they would with me. Jeff and I spent several months passing referrals back and forth. The work wasn’t slowing down. After some heart to heart conversations, Jeff and I knew it was time to either take a leap and really grow this agency, or stay in the same place. Needless to say, we took that leap of faith. That’s how The Branding Room Floor was born.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I have been very fortunate to have amazing people along the way who support me. Referrals are over 90% of our business. But every new business has bumps in the road. Growing a team is difficult. For the first time I was on the opposite side of the table interviewing candidates to hand over a piece of my business, my baby, and trust that they would take care of it like I would. That is really hard! It is not only time consuming, but when it doesn’t work out, the workload becomes code red, drop what you were working on, all hands on deck, meet the deadline and don’t let this affect the client.
Besides your internal team, you have an external team you need to find and rely on too. Accountants and bankers and attorneys. That is a similar process – the first one won’t always work out. And some times the second one doesn’t either. A piece of advice that resonates with me is “Fire fast.” When red flags arise, trust your gut.

As a business owner deeply invested in helping other businesses thrive, what matters to me most can be summed up in one word: impact.
I truly want to make a difference in the lives of the entrepreneurs and business owners I have the privilege to serve. It’s not just about the bottom line or the numbers on a spreadsheet – though those are important too – but about the tangible, meaningful impact we can make together.
Genuine connections with my clients are at the heart of everything I do. I believe in taking the time to truly understand their needs, their goals, and their unique challenges. It’s about more than just providing a service; it’s about forging a partnership built on trust, transparency, and mutual respect.
When I take on a client’s business, I take ownership of it as if it were my own. Their success becomes my success, and their challenges become my challenges. I’m not just a consultant or a service provider; I’m a partner, a confidant, and a trusted advisor.
At the end of the day, what matters to me most is knowing that I’ve made a positive impact on the businesses. That I am always leaving it better than I found it. Whether it’s helping them reach new heights of success, create a name for themselves, overcome obstacles, or simply providing a listening ear when they need it most, I’m here to make a difference.
