Today we’d like to introduce you to Christy LoPresto.
Hi Christy, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I always wanted to be an entrepreneur. The idea of working for myself and being able to create something and share that with others was always a dream of mine. I feel extremely grateful that I have been able to walk in this path of opportunity. Being a NYC restauranteur and entrepreneur has come with many challenges and lessons. One of the biggest things I learned is that change is inevitable and when one door closes another one does open, movement is constant.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being an entrepreneur is not easy. It’s one of the hardest things to do. It is full of up’s and downs, gains and losses. Being able to pivot and change course when things are down is an essential part of business as well as staying creative, patient and true to yourself. Knowing when to shift course or stay the path is hard but this is why believing in your vision plays such an import role.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Kinn is a fast casual restaurant concept I created around my heritage and some of my family recipes. Sharing authentic Thai street food with some of my own additions.
I like to educate people on our culture and bring awareness around authentic Thai food and ingredients by not altering the depths of flavors in our dishes. We make everything in house daily sauces, curry pastes and soups. I want people to experience authentic Thai food and feel transported for a moment when they dine at Kinn.
I believe what sets Kinn apart from other Thai restaurants is that we really put a lot of love into our dishes and we hope that this translates into each bite.
On our menu at Kinn, you can find some classic street food dishes like Pad See Ew or 3 different types of Pad Kraprow (Basil Stir Fry) Noodle soup, grandma’s green curry and Kinn Fried Chicken. As well as an assortment of Thai snacks, house made ice cream, beer and a natural/biodynamic wine selection.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
Kinn is a collaboration of family, food and love. Sharing my culture and love for food with inspiration from my grandmothers love for cooking and entertaining.
I am able to bring this vision to life daily with help from all of my amazing staff and team members at Kinn! So thank you to them!
