Today we’d like to introduce you to Buddha Mei.
Hi Buddha, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My story begins with a deep passion for music and art that’s been with me since childhood. I was in the choir in church, enrolled in music and dance classes which then led me to studying Vocal Performance at LaGuardia Performing Arts High School, where I developed a foundation in music, and later explored Film/Media Studies and Psychology at Hunter College. Now I am working towards my certification with the International Sound Therapy Association to receive my certification for Sound Therapy which I will be receiving in March of 2025. My creative path has always been multifaceted—I’ve worked as a model, a makeup artist, and a filmmaker, each role shaping the artist I am today.
In 2022, I began producing my own films and music, blending healing arts with creative expression. This journey became personal when I dove into sound healing and holistic music as a response to my family’s history with cancer, which inspired me to create ALIGNMENT, my debut album.
Today, my work spans hosting sound baths, holistic events and workshops, performing live, and creating films that resonate with mind, body, and spirit. It’s been a journey of finding balance between my artistic passions and my desire to build community through healing, avant-garde experiences.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t been a smooth road, but those challenges have shaped my journey in the most meaningful ways. One of the biggest struggles was balancing my artistic aspirations with financial stability. Early on, I worked at places like Starbucks and a law firm while pursuing my creative projects, and being a student, which taught me resilience and resourcefulness.
Another hurdle was navigating the uncertainty of being a multi-passionate artist. At times, I felt torn between my love for music, film, and healing arts, unsure how to bring it all together. It was only after embracing all parts of myself—through producing my album ALIGNMENT and hosting sound healing events—that I realized these mediums could coexist and amplify one another.
On a more personal level, my family’s long history with cancer brought emotional and spiritual challenges, but it also inspired me to create art and music that heals. Every setback taught me to trust the process and focus on building something meaningful, not just for myself but for my community.
As you know, we’re big fans of MEIDULOOK. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
My brand, MEIDULOOK, is a holistic creative universe where music, healing, and visual art intersect. At its core, it’s about offering a Full Body Experience—an immersive journey that connects people to their inner selves through music, film, sound healing, and live events.
I specialize in Holistic Groove Pop, a genre I’ve crafted to merge soulful rhythms with healing frequencies. My debut album, ALIGNMENT, crafted with my partner Victor Andre is a meditative musical journey that resonates with the 12 energy centers, blending English and Cantonese vocals with avant-garde soundscapes. Alongside the music, I host sound baths and guided meditations designed to ground, uplift, and connect communities.
What sets MEIDULOOK apart is its intention. Every offering, from music to events, is infused with care and designed to resonate on a spiritual, emotional, and physical level. My work also celebrates cultural identity and spiritual baddies—those who embrace healing while staying true to their groove.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud of building something that feels authentic and transformative. Whether it’s a listener connecting deeply with a song or someone experiencing release at a sound bath, my goal is to make people feel seen, heard, and aligned.
For readers, I want you to know MEIDULOOK is a call to heal, vibe, and connect. Explore the music, join a sound healing event, or simply vibe out with the visuals. This is a space for community, creativity, and growth.
How do you think about luck?
Luck has certainly played a role in my journey, though I believe it’s often a mix of preparation and being in the right place at the right time. Good luck has come in moments where opportunities aligned unexpectedly—like receiving recognition for my short films or connecting with people who’ve supported my music and healing arts. These moments felt like blessings, but they were also the result of years of dedication and staying open to possibilities.
Bad luck has shown up as challenges, like financial setbacks or moments of doubt about my path. However, I see those challenges as opportunities in disguise. They pushed me to grow, adapt, and deepen my commitment to my work. For example, navigating difficult times in my personal life inspired the healing elements in my debut album ALIGNMENT, which has resonated with so many people.
Ultimately, I believe luck is about perspective. Whether good or bad, I try to see every experience as part of the bigger picture—fueling my growth as an artist and a healer.
