Today we’d like to introduce you to Angela Wolf Quaintance.
Hi Angela, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Angela, and I’m the owner of Angela Wolf Video. We create brand videos for small to midsize businesses. Based in Philadelphia, we work with clients along the East Coast. In February 2024, we opened our very first studio space in South Philadelphia. I had always loved videos and storytelling. My mother likes to tell the story of a time when I was four years old. She walked into my bedroom to find me sitting on the floor, in the dark, with all of my stuffed animals lined up in a row. She asked me what I was doing. I explained, “I’m telling them a movie!” It was hardly a surprise that I went to film school, graduating from Temple University with a degree in Film and Media Arts. My first few jobs out of college was working as an internal videographer and video editor for several different companies. However, I kept running into the same problem: women were not taken seriously. Whether it was being paid less, given less work, or not being listened to, myself and the other women around me continually ran into road blocks. Even when I decided to branch off as a freelancer, I had male videographers tell me – a woman – that they would “love” to hire women, but there just aren’t any in the industry. I knew I could do better. In 2016 I started Angela Wolf Video. We are a certified woman-owned small business with the mission to hire and train women in the video industry.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Being a business owner is not for the faint of heart. It was scary to leave my full-time job and jump into the unknown. Acquiring clients is one of the consistent struggles of running a business. But in the beginning, before the brand is recognizable, it is especially difficult. Not only was I competing in the market as a new brand, but I was competing as woman in a male-dominated space. The video industry is overwhelmingly male, and it’s not easy to forget. I would often be the only woman crew member. I would have men tell me “you don’t know look like a videographer,” or question the type of gear I use. I’m so grateful for all of the amazing clients that I’ve had over the years. As a certified Woman-Owned Small Business, I do not shy away from DEI. I love working with other companies that support and value a variety of voices.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

What were you like growing up?
My mother likes to tell the story of a time when I was four years old. She walked into my bedroom to find me sitting on the floor, in the dark, with all of my stuffed animals lined up in a row. She asked me what I was doing. I explained, “I’m telling them a movie!”
I spent most of my childhood with a camcorder in my hand. Every summer and winter break, my friends and I would make a new movie. Despite what it may have looked like, I was not bossy – I was directing. I would write, direct, and film the movies with my friends as the actors. My parents were gracious enough to allow us to take over the basement – props and all.
When I wasn’t filming another video, I was spending time with animals. My sister and I loved playing with our Miniature Schnauzer and two chinchillas. I worked at the 4H club as a pre-teen, mucking out stables in exchange for horseback riding lessons. As a teenager, I got a job working at Build-A-Bear Workshop.
Besides work, I spent my high school years playing violin and performing in the school plays. I was always looking for a creative outlet.
