There are a few customers that come to mind when thinking about success stories. One that stands out the most has now become one of my repeat customers. She started using Unrefined Essentials and said it “changed me and my son’s skin for the better.” She went on to further explain, “I can’t even begin to tell you how many different products we’ve tried, and this cleared us both up within 3 weeks.” My favorite part of her experience is her telling me, “You have magic in a bottle.” She shared with me that she struggled with psoriasis for years and after consistently using our products, she was able to stop using two of her prescription steroid creams. This truly reminded me of the importance of me creating skincare products. Read more>>

Traditional language education often emphasizes grammar explanations, memorizing vocabulary, practicing set dialogues, and doing grammar drills like formulas. These methods overlook the true purpose of language: to help us understand others better and communicate confidently. One of my students came to me and said, “I’ve been learning Chinese for six months, but my Chinese friends don’t understand my Chinese, and I don’t understand theirs. I’m really about to give up.” After 20 lessons together, he shared a breakthrough moment: “Today, I went to a restaurant in New York’s Chinatown. When the server talked about us, she used the term ‘鬼佬’ (foreigner). Suddenly, I realized I understood everything she was saying! So I responded in Chinese, ‘I’m not a 鬼佬 (foreigner).’” He is so confident now and he always tells me this: “I know your class works—comprehensible input has made all the difference!” Read more>>

Clean Water For Vietnam – In September 2023, I went on a trip to Vietnam with my friend and his family who runs a non-profit focused on bettering the lives of children around the world. He had funded a school in the Central Highlands and we were traveling there for the opening ceremony and first day of class. As usual, I brought some Sawyer water filters with me, 10 to be exact, which was the most I had been able to bring on a trip so far. The trip and experience was incredible and the ceremony was beautiful. After, we donated and setup some of the water filters, we sat down with members of the local non-profit and local community leaders to train them on how the filter worked and how to properly clean them. There was a moment where the village representative in the government, showed me his phone with the google translate app opened and had asked “When can you bring more? This is exactly what we need, since people are getting sick from small particles in the water and we have to boil it to keep us safe”. Read more>>

When my client, the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) of over 500 employees, approached me, they were feeling unmotivated and lacked engagement in their role. They also expressed a desire to sharpen and develop their leadership capabilities. It became evident that my client possessed a growth mindset, believing in their capacity for change and learning. Our initial session delved into understanding my client’s background, revealing that this role was a dream opportunity for them. They aimed to positively impact and influence as a change agent, aligning with their long-standing aspirations. As a leadership and development practitioner, our focus shifted to exploring the underlying motivations and aspirations driving my client. We aimed to view them as a whole individual, beyond their current role or job title. Read more>>

All of my events have been successful, with clients grateful for my help in planning and design. A standout was the intimate rooftop wedding I decorated for a lesbian couple in Astoria, NY it was my first lesbian wedding and fourth LGBTQ+ wedding, including my own. The couple wanted an intimate rooftop celebration in Astoria, New York. Despite the windy weather, which broke the wooden arch before the ceremony, I was able to fix it just in time. They loved the affordable decor I provided, which was within their budget, and appreciated the extra touches I added. I followed their requests, and they gave me the freedom to design as I wished. One day I ran across a small candle company on Instagram. I was getting ready to travel and saw they had these small travel size candles which I thought would be perfect in my hotel room and to give as gifts. The order came and I decided to photograph them as I saw their story. I used vintage props and warm tones to create gorgeous scenes. I posted the pictures on my instagram account and Hattie from Hearth and Craft Candle Co. reach out to see if she could purchase the images. I was excited she loved them and from there a creative relationship was formed. It wasn’t long after she started using the images in her marketing that she wrote me with an amazing compliment — that her business felt more elevated with these images helping her market online and in print. Hattie in her own right is an amazing creative as well. She understood from the start she has to be the soul and voice of her brand. Hattie is a maker of her product but also one of the best hustlers I know. She is active in her brand both online and in person. Honestly an ideal client for me as a photographer. Read more>>
