In the depths of Covid, Virginia noticed young Nashville comedian Joshua Black on Instagram. His hilarious videos poking fun at local hipsters weren’t just funny, but also had something to say about the changing landscape of his hometown. One cold email later and a meetup with the ever charming Shance – always a win – and the rest was history. The relationship in any project is key, if you don’t mesh, you won’t produce good work. We were nearing the end of treatment, trying to determine what I could do after discharge. In the midst of doing my PT exercises one day, she announces, “I think you should train for a triathlon!” After asking her if I could have some of the drugs she must have been on to suggest something like that, <just kidding>, I gave it some thought. My mother taught me how to knit at the age of nine and I have always had something that I was working on, to keep my hands and no doubt my mind busy. I continued with knitting into my adult years and when I was first married I learned to sew some of my clothes in order to save some money. When I had my children (two) I began to investigate other crafts and leaned towards surface design with fabrics. I took a few classes and workshops and began to design fabrics with dye, textures and paints. Read more>>
