There are many heartwarming stories from my career in the elementary school system as an office administrator. Part of my duties as an elementary school secretary were to greet and enroll children in Junior Kindergarten (average age 4 -/+. Some of these kids remained at the school until they graduated from Grade 8 at about age 12 or 13 years of age. It was a joy to watch as the children grew and learned in the school environment. I had a client with a chronic skin condition. He had eczema all over his face. When he came to see me, he was struggling with confidence, anger, frustration with his ability to manage his skin. When I started in the field as a grief therapist in the mid 1990’s, my entry was by way of a grief counselor at a Hospice organization in Columbus, Ohio. I had just completed graduate school so half-of my job was working with kids in schools running grief groups, and the other half was home visit based grief counseling. I had a client that was German and they immigrated to the United States. I began seeing her following the loss of her husband. They had been married for over 50 years.
