Throughout my 23 years of clinical practice, the majority of clients I’ve seen have been adults. Although, interestingly enough, over the past 4-5 years more children are being brought into clinic for various conditions. One of the most heartwarming and memorable experiences I’ve had was with a boy named Raj. Raj was four years old when he first came to see me. He was highly intelligent and active, yet he couldn’t speak. To communicate, he would make grunting noises and point to what he wanted or needed. I have a bunch of stories that I tend to look back on, but the one that stands out to me is about a client that did not want to come to therapy. They were a minor and had struggled with an eating disorder for quite some time. Seeing them go from being resistant to therapy to becoming someone who valued mental health and encouraging others to work on their mental health made me incredibly proud and honored. Read more>>

The music therapy groups were made possible by grant funding awarded to Solutions Of Change to address trauma in our youth. I facilitated groups twice per week. Each of my students had their own story, which involved some form of trauma. One of my high school students was a sophomore with aspirations of playing professional football one day. Unfortunately, he lost his father to violence a few years ago. His trauma response was fighting, and ended up in a number of physical altercations with peers. Read more>>

Over the years of my career as a Veterinarian and Dog Trainer, I have met many dogs and their owners and have lived their wonderful and heartwarming stories. This is the story of 5 wonderful white puppies I met at Stardogs, a premium dog daycare in Los Angeles. They were rescued over the years by a kind woman who truly loves dogs. The last one she adopted was the youngest and smallest. I trained him everyday teaching him basic obedience and tricks. He wanted to be a dog actor… he was very smart! Sadly, one day he died and this episode really broke my heart. I can say he was my favorite one and I considered him like my own dog. Read more>>
