Today we’re excited to be connecting with Nichole Parmley again. We’re excited to feature one of their services in our gift guide – learn more below and we encourage you to use your gift budget to support small businesses & creatives whenever possible.
Nichole, we loved learning your story, but I think our audience is going to appreciate learning about the services you provide as well. So, maybe you can help bring everyone up to speed?
The service being offered is a 6 month online personal training program for women struggling with chronic social trauma.
As a personal trainer who works exclusively with women, it became painfully obvious that MANY women are sacrificing their health because of an aversion to the gym. Many times, this aversion is due to abusive, body-negative messages they have received throughout their lives that cause feelings of shame, guilt, embarrassment, and fear of social
stigma.
This program works by healing their relationship with their bodies, helping them feel safe in their bodies, and helping them gradually gain the confidence they need to move into the gym.
From there, they can begin to engage the most scientifically backed form of exercise for preventing osteoporosis, muscle loss, and cognitive decline: heavy weight training.
Can you paint a picture for prospective clients of what they can expect if they work with you?
When clients work with me they can expect a very gradual process that moves them through different stages of body acceptance and respect and works to prepare them mentally for engaging the gym environment. Those stages are:
1) Healing their relationship with their body
2) Gaining feelings of safety in their body
3) Setting progressively more fulfilling goals
3) Creating awareness of the social conditioning that is holding them back and giving them tools to overcome it
Is there a core message, value or ethos you are trying to communicate through your branding and marketing?
I use eclipse imagery because, like the sun hidden behind the moon, I believe that every woman is strong and fiery but sometimes has to free herself from what is blocking her light.
What’s next on the service or brand roadmap?
My next big project is bringing this research to the public and opening a discourse about the way the fitness industry markets to and treats women. We need to do better. We need more understanding and compassion. We need to stop feeding off of the very insecurities we help create.
