What’s been the most exciting part of the journey of taking this product from idea to real life?
The most exciting part of creating the Malibu Dana Trucker Hat has been watching an idea come to life—from the initial spark of inspiration to seeing it hot off the press. I love every step of the process. It’s like bringing something meaningful into the world, filled with creativity, purpose, and love.

What makes it even more special is the connection these hats create. People from all over the world—airports, cafes, and beyond—reach out to share stories of seeing or meeting someone wearing one of my creations. These moments remind me that the hats are more than just products; they’re catalysts for connection, sparking conversations and spreading positivity everywhere they go.

And knowing that each hat also gives back—to The Butterfly Strong Foundation and other meaningful causes—brings the journey full circle. It’s creativity, connection, and compassion all wrapped into one.

Is there a core message, value or ethos you are trying to communicate through your branding and marketing?
At the heart of everything I do—whether it’s through Malibu Dana Activewear, the trucker hats, or the Butterfly Strong movement—is the commitment to authenticity. In a world that often feels curated and filtered, I believe in celebrating what’s real. Real is rare, and that’s what makes it so powerful.

Through my branding and marketing, I want to communicate that being true to yourself is not only enough—it’s extraordinary. Whether it’s a playful catchphrase on a hat or the work we do to support breast cancer advocacy, everything stems from a place of honesty, purpose, and genuine connection.

What are you most thankful for?
I’m most thankful for my life. The day we caught my breast cancer 14 years ago was the luckiest day of my life. It taught me the importance of advocating for yourself. Early detection saves lives—if caught early, there’s a 99% survival rate, and I like those odds a lot. That’s why I always encourage self-exams, mammograms, and doing it all. Being fearless means doing it even when you’re scared. You have to have the courage to act, even when fear is present. It’s not just about surviving; it’s about living fully and doing everything you can to take care of yourself along the way.

The resilience I’ve seen in others and my own journey remind me every day of how valuable connection is. Whether it’s the bond I’ve built with my community, the incredible people I’ve met along this journey, or the moments when my work sparks something meaningful in someone’s life, connection is what fuels me. I’m grateful for every moment and every opportunity to make a difference, spreading hope and reminding people to take charge of their health. Real is rare, and life is a precious gift.
