Bri, thanks for joining us again. We’re so excited to have a product focused conversation today. Can you bring our readers up to speed on the product side?
Table for One is a guided journal that focuses on self discovery through the idea of solo dating. The structure of the journal follows the three stages of a relationship concept- Courting, Conflict, Commitment. Each section has journal prompts and exercises that align with the respective stage. I started creating Table for One during a time I was deeply searching for a way to cope with feelings of lonliness. In full transparency, I grew exhuasted of hearing “just enjoy your single season” and “just focus on yourself” As time went on I understood there was some truth in these statments and I realized that I had not take advantage of my solitude to it’s full potential. I also realized that the way I cultivated my relationship with myself would inevitably shape the way I connected with others. Table for One was born from my desire to share that transformative journey and provide a space for others to not only find joy in their solitude but to grow within it. I decided to align it with the three relationship stages to express that falling in love is not exclusive to another person and to futher show the connection between our relationship with self and the relationships we have with others. I also felt it added a unique touch as a guided journal along with the letters to the readers and Qr codes that link to helpful videos and resources throughout the book.
What’s been the most exciting part of the journey of taking this product from idea to real life?
Theres a unique feeling when you hold a physical copy of your book for the first time, after spending months or maybe even years on end staring at it on a computer screen attempting to envision it as a reality. That can be difficult to do at times. I decided to have a book release party for this journal and I remember the surreal feeling when I first got the shipment of books for the party. It’s both exciting and nerve inducing when I show someone the journal for the first time or when I explain the concept. I’m always hoping they will understand and find inspiration from it. Before it even came to a physical existence, the most exciting part was when I would come up with a new idea, for example some of the informational page designs are inspired after a minimalist menu to play on the book title or deciding to add the qr codes. I found myself having creative blocks at times so when I would just be working and think of a new idea it was pretty exciting.
If you had to boil your product or brand down to one core message – what would that message be?
It would be that self love is not a matter of if or when, it is deserved just cause.
What’s next on the product or brand roadmap?
In terms of what’s next product wise, I want to focus on the working woman. Creating planners, notebooks and other items that highlight the educated, professional woman. I have a few terms already in mind! I think this is an inportant market because I myself, am a woman who went to college and now works a 9-5 at the office. I also think it’s important especially for women in my generation because social media can easily make you feel like you are not doing enough if you don’t have a certain look, a certain lifestyle or you aren’t an influencer. I want to reminder women everywhere that they are still just as fabulous and promote taking care of their wellbeing in the process.
