For some, family businesses mean spending more quality time with their families, financial freedom and so much more while for others it feels like a prison sentence. There are so many pros and cons, positives and negatives and so we wanted to create a space for folks who have experiences with family businesses to discuss the pros and cons.

Confidence Shoppe has been a family business from the onset. Both of my daughters have been heavily involved, however, one of them, Camry, decided to stay the course and make it her career. Camry is currently the CFO of Confidence Shoppe and really out does herself! Being a mom and daughter at night, while being business professionals during the day can cause some bumps in the road for us relationally sometimes. We work hard to make sure we keep the right hat on for the right discussions. When I was a kid my father and his father were in the used car business. I spent a lot of my childhood at the car lots washing cars, sweeping dirt and horsing around. I learned to drive a stick shift truck in the back of his parking lot as soon as my feet could touch the pedals. I guess at some point as a child I just assumed that I would follow in the footsteps of my dad, my mother on the other hand had a different idea. She didn’t want me working those hours, she wanted me to have a higher education, and she wanted me to see more. Turns out I got that higher education, I’ve gotten to see the world, I get to work with amazing people, I get to lead a team every day and I get to make peoples lives better even if it’s just for a moment while they’re in the restaurant..
