Today we’d like to introduce you to Thomas Halle
Thomas, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve always wanted to tell stories for a living. To make movies, books, video games… Anything.
The freedom in storytelling… The limitless bounds of imagination… The technique and the craft behind its art. It all inspired me everyday.
It all started back in school. I didn’t know what I wanted to do with my life. During lunch, I met this guy who was in a cinema major. We got to know each other and one day out of the blue he asked me for help on his project. And I got hooked to the feeling of it. To the adrenaline of working on something bigger than yourself, to the nerves of a premiere. The rest is history! And it’s still in the making.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not at all. I don’t think it ever is?
We all struggle. We all face adversity. Wheter financially, emotionally or even physically… We all have to deal with a few obstacles every so often.
I didn’t always have the budget or the right partners for my projects. Some deadlines came in sooner than I realized. Some last minute changes were overlooked and a few mistakes slipped in my films, etc…
It’s all part of the process and we learn from those mistakes.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Thomas Halle Productions is a Canada-based multimedia production company that specializes in film, video games, audio series and more!
Some of our most recent work is on CABIN TALES; a critically-acclaimed and award winning audio horror series created, written and directed by myself [Thomas Halle].
We are also currently working on a feature:
RED BOX, our feature film debut. The story of four adrenaline junkie friends who go cave exploring. They heard of a rumor that a small comet landed in a desert thousands of years ago and that this very cave exists and structured itself due to the impact. The ground underneath their feet crumbles and they get lost in the cave. They are desperately looking for a way out as something is lurking down there with them. Something that sees them like prey. And it is most definitely not human.
How do you think about luck?
Interesting question… I’d say luck plays a part in everything at all times. Just in different forms;
For me? I’d say it was a matter of being in the right place at the right time. But luck is only an ally if you are also putting in the work.
It’s as Stephen King once said;
Talent is cheaper than table salt. What separates the talented individual from the successful one is a lot of hard work.
I’m grateful for the lucks I’ve received… Eternally, even! But I always make sure to fill my part of the bargain and work as hard as I can to capitalize on it.
