Today we’d like to introduce you to Takisha Carter
Hi Takisha, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey in entrepreneurship is a continuous one. I’ve always had the desire to be free to do what I deemed as my purpose while on this planet. I have discovered that my purpose is a creative one, utilizing innate gifts and talents alongside skills that I’ve acquired through education and practice. It took years of determination, persistence, consistency during trials, pivots to overcoming challenges, and working past fear or self doubt to reach where I am presently. Where I am today is, still growing, evolving, and aligning with my desired vision. My objective is to continue being compensated to be me, in the fullest expression of myself.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has not been a smooth one, and some of the biggest challenges are access to technological innovations, education, mentors, funding/financing, supportive environments and community, all symptoms of systemic oppression as a black woman.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Native Nubian Wellness provides regulated plant medicine coaching, education, and experiences to individuals and organizations centered around self care and the well being of the whole person. At Native Nubian Wellness we assist in unlocking sustainable wellness practices with the keys that nature provides. We have two ways of doing this, “Business to Consumer” and “Business to Business.” Our business to consumer services provide 1:1 or group coaching services, and hospitality services for private events. While the business to business services provide product formulation consulting, plant medicine education with staff training, corporate wellness workshops, and speaking engagement appearances.
What sets us apart is our activism and advocacy for underserved and marginalized communities where supportive self care is inaccessible, as well as the continued research and education that deepens our knowledge in this growing industry.
What I am most proud of is our capacity to be of service, we not only unlock wellness with our services, but we are at the intersection of wellness and hospitality. Getting feedback from clients and customers about how a product restored them, or how the coaching helped them is what is most encouraging to keep going.
As the regulated plant medicine industry continues to grow, so shall we in providing the safest and supportive services along side science backed education, that informs humanity on the best ways to consume what nature provides for our wellbeing.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
As a youth, when I left things to chance, I’m not sure things went the way I’ve desired. I’ve had better outcomes when I made the conscious choice to pursue what I wanted in life and in business. “Luck” by definition is success or failure apparently brought by chance rather than through one’s own action. Taking action has been what I’ve found to be most helpful in my life. If and when I do find luck, it is when opportunity is met with me being prepared for it. My luck seems to be more of a frequency attracted with a positive mental attitude and aligned action.
