Today we’d like to introduce you to Rebecca Coppage
Hi Rebecca, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Almost a year ago, one of my best friends, Meredith, was telling me that her daughter Lily wanted to get her ears pierced. Lily is 8 years old. Meredith didn’t want to take her to Claire’s or a store in the mall. She also didn’t really want to take Lily to a piercing parlor. I offered to pierce Lily’s ears. Some background information that’s important to know is that I have been a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner for almost 12 years and about 10.5 years ago, I was trained on how to medically pierce ears. So, a few days later, Lily came over to my house and I pierced her ears! It was an easy, relaxed, and happy experience.
It wasn’t long before Meredith sent me a text asking if I could pierce some of Lily’s friends’ ears. Meredith had been talking with some other moms at school pick-up and had told them about what an awesome experience Lily had getting her ears pierced. When I first read her text, I kind of laughed, and thought to myself: That’s really flattering but I was only doing it as a favor to my best friend.
Over the next few days, I kept coming back to her question. It was nagging at me. Maybe I should re-consider. There are not very good options for kids to get their ears pierced these days beside going to see a professional piercer at a piercing parlor. I’m a big advocate of doing ear piercing in the most gentle, safe, and sterile way.
There are still a few pediatric offices that offer piercings in the office, but they are far and few between. As I thought about it more, it seemed that there is a need for high quality pediatric ear piercing done by an actual professional.
In April of 2024, Easy Peasy Piercing became official.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
For the most part, establishing Easy Peasy Piercing has been a pretty smooth process. I feel like when you have a good idea that gets you excited about sharing it with others, it makes the process feel slightly less stressful. The biggest struggle for me was (and still is) learning the business side of things. Because my entire educational background is in healthcare, I really had no experience at all with how to officially start a business. I felt ready to hit the ground running with Easy Peasy Piercing, but in order for it to be a success, I held off on opening the business for several months so that I could take the time and educate myself about getting an LLC, about the different permits and insurance that were required, and learning about how appropriately advertise. I am still learning new things on a daily basis of how to better run Easy Peasy Piercing!

Easy Peasy Piercing is an ear piercing business that is geared specifically toward children. It provides children of all ages an experience that brings the quality of a doctor’s office to the comfort and safety of a more natural setting. I am pediatric nurse practitioner, so I am passionate about making sure that ear piercings are done properly – using high quality earrings that are medically sterilized, causing minimal trauma to the ears, and making sure that the piercing placements are appropriate. A big thing that sets Easy Peasy Piercing apart is that I do not use a piercing gun when I pierce ears. I use single-use ear piercing kits that are sterilized in a medical facility. It is a quick and easily tolerated experience.
Another unique thing that sets Easy Peasy Piercing apart from other piercing businesses is that I do not have a store front! I provide my piercing services at pop-ups and events. I am also available to come to you! I do individual appointments and also do piercing parties!
How do you define success?
I would define success as finding happiness and joy in the way you get to spend your time and the people you get to spend your time with. I’m sure that success means something very different to everyone, but I for me, being successful means feeling proud of what I am accomplishing with my life and that I am surrounded by all the people who love me and help encourage me to keep growing as a person.
