Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Spicer
Hi Rachel, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Music has always been a passion of mine, but I never thought I’d end up with a career in music. What started as ‘helping out a friend’ became something that I thought I could really excel in…. not from an artist perspective (I commend all artists for what you do!), but from the business perspective. I love working with passionate artists to get their music out into the world. In front of the right people, and in front of future audiences!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Definitely not. I haven’t come from a traditional background with qualifications in music or business… It made it difficult at first to get people to see that I had any authority, or that I knew what I was doing. But, what I did have was a motivation and a passion to help in the industry and do what I knew I could do. Also, I was very grateful that those around me supported me any way that they could!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Scarlet River PR is a country/americana focused PR company that specialises in working with artists to promote their music to media and radio, accomplishing their goals. Whilst I start with the same base package, I know how important it is that each artist has their own focus and achievements, and that it is important to ensure each clients’ package suits this. I hope that this makes Scarlet River PR more client-focused and sets us apart from other media companies.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I’m currently in my final year of University, studying for my PhD in Neuroscience
