Hi Rachel, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.

“Anything you can imagine, you can create into reality.”

If I could sum up my story, it would be this quote. I have always wanted to capture the magical moments in life and jewelry has helped me express that. My journey into the world of jewelry began 18 years ago when I first discovered my passion for creating beautiful, handcrafted pieces through beading and wire art. I taught myself and found myself constantly making pieces for friends and family. Jewelry is an art that can express who you are, and it can express nature, imagination, and style. It truly brings the magic to every outfit, vibe, moment in time and occasion.

Each of my eras of jewelry making came from wanting to capture the magic of life. From starting out selling my jewelry at just 12 years old, I started making jewelry with nature’s stones and minerals (turquoise, river stones, crystal and coral). My mom helped me sell at the farmers market which started my journey into selling jewelry. I was shy back then but selling at the market helped me get out of my shell.

When I got to college, I loved the beauty and art of music festivals. So I started making jewelry for weddings and music festivals, in which I made headpieces, hand chains and anklets. This was a fun business that I still run, and people love buying the crystal cat ears!

I now have my newest brand, sea + blossom, which I have been working on.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?

Any path to success is not always smooth and linear. While I started creating jewelry at a young age, I dealt with a lot of internal growth that I had to learn and overcome within myself.

Imposter syndrome was my main hurdle. Our society doesn’t truly teach us the fundamentals of leadership, entrepreneurship and truly living out our own dreams. Rather, we learn to follow someone else’s dreams. Starting just before my teen years, I had to come out of my shell in order to sell at farmers markets. Over time, I didn’t fully realize it, but I spent a lot of time as a jewelry business owner not taking my business seriously enough to develop what it takes to get to the next level. It’s important to re-wire your brain and truly believe that YES you CAN do this and you ARE capable to creating your passion into a reality. Your dreams are dreams for a reason and once you truly take ownership of your life and dreams, there is really nothing you can’t do. You were given a piece of magic and gift from God that you shouldn’t lose. It is up to you to use that magic and make a positive change in the world. Once you master your mindset and apply tbis, anything is possible.

Shedding a limited mindset was another layer to this. I spent a lot of my teens and 20s with my jewelry thinking too small – even when I was doing okay with sales! I realize looking back that although I have come a long way in my skills, it’s an everyday practice to constantly think bigger and dream bigger.
