Today we’d like to introduce you to Natalie Zacharias
Hi Natalie, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
If I’m being honest, my healing journey started when I was a teenager and I was first introduced to energy healing and ways to connect with Spirit. It was a time in my life when there were big changes happening within my family that were causing a lot of pain and suffering. I was feeling lost and alone and all of a sudden these teachers and healers started showing up in my life. I was in denial about my path for many years, it wasn’t until my mid-20s that I started to realize I couldn’t ignore my natural ability to hold space for healing to happen for people. I felt a big intuitive feeling that it was time to take a chance and forge my own path. I was interested in deepening my studies in the ways that psychology and spirituality wove together. What I was really searching for was the indigenous wisdom that resided within my DNA. I had a sense that there was more to healing then what I already knew and that led me to quitting my job and moving to San Francisco to get my Master’s degree in Integral Counseling Psychology and also learn from the many spiritual teachers who I would find while living there. The past ten years feels like it has been lifetimes lived already with the depth of the experiences and initiations I have gone through. In fact, I’m working on a book that will share a lot more depth of the lessons learned along my journey because to keep it brief does a disservice to everything I’ve learned, experienced and the old stories and wounds I have released and transformed. I’ve gone through the fire again and again and continue to be rebirthed through this experience we call life. Needless to say, it was through all those experiences that I now stand here today sharing my medicine in the way that feels true.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road was not smooth at all! Here’s an example. All my life I was also told that I was such a nice girl. For those who are reformed people pleasers, I’m sure you have heard how “nice” you are. I have learned a lot about the importance of meeting my own needs and having boundaries both with myself and others. I used to think that was selfish but now I know better. There is a difference from being “nice” to being “kind”. The difference is a nice person is constantly trying to meet the need of others while abandoning themselves. They hold the opinions of others as more important than their own. In a way, it is a form of self harm. When you are “kind” you first tend to your needs and utilizing your awareness, choose how you want to interact with others. One of my mentors taught me that boundaries are where we choose to meet the world. That was such a profound reframe for me because I always imagined boundaries to be brick walls that we build to protect ourselves and keep people out.
Another struggle I have learned a lot about is healthy ways to be with my own anger and how to be with conflict. I used to feel overwhelmed whenever I felt angry and would feel a lot of shame and guilt whenever my anger lashed out to those who “hurt” me. I’ve learned a lot about how to have awareness that I’m getting emotionally dysregulated and tools that can help me feel grounded in my heart so that I can communicate what is coming up for me without lashing out with anger. I feel that learning to be with conflict is such an important skill that we all need to learn because it is impossible to live a life free of conflict.
There are countless other lessons I can speak about but the important thing I want to share is that whenever we go through struggles, we have a choice with how we want to be with what we are experiencing. Allow yourself to feel the feelings that come up to the surface but don’t get stuck in the story you tell yourself. Be curious. Dig deeper. Explore what is coming up for you to see and/or learn about yourself. Struggles are opportunities for us to transform and transmute parts of ourselves that are ready to be integrated into the greater whole. There is always something to learn through difficulty. We are always able to turn poison into medicine if we choose to see it that way.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I created Tending Your Spirit as a healing temple for those who are wanting support along there healing path, a place they can come to for support. I offer 1-on-1 transformational coaching sessions that are a blend of the skills I learned through my master’s program that I integrated with the many lessons I’ve learned through ceremonies and spiritual initiations. My style of holding space is informed by my years of learning Gestalt therapy and I meet with clients virtually. I also support people utilizing an energy healing modality called The Emotion Code. Dr. Bradley Nelson is the creator of this modality and it’s a way to tap into the subconscious and clear trapped energy, known as trapped emotions, from our bodies. I love this modality because it allows us to regain harmony within our lives and can be used to help with a number of issues people face. I also have some ritual and ceremonial offerings that include supporting the ancestors and stone divination work that I have been trained in and love doing. At Tending Your Spirit, I also have a number of recorded classes that people can access through the Library of Teachings. Some of the topics include daily clearing practices, conflict, ancestral wisdom, practicing discernment and much more to come.
I’m known for helping folks feel safe and grounded while we work to transmute their shadow and navigate difficult topics and emotions. I’m very good at going into the “fire” with people. Clients always share are strongly they feel held by my presence and always appreciate the depths in which we are able to go with one another.
I am also so excited to share a collaboration I’m currently co-facilitation with my good friend and teacher, Liv Mokai Wheeler. We’ve created a 13-month journey that is in honor of the Cosmic Mother that’s called Cosmic Mother Culture: Hearts Full with Devotion. We were inspired by Spirit to design this community in such a way that people can continuously join throughout the 13 month period. This is a community we’re creating for the those that feel called to be active creators in creating a new culture in honor of the Cosmic Mother and her wisdom. Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
An important lesson that came out of the Covid-19 Crisis is the importance for everyone to truly learn how to practice discernment. There can be so many challenges that we face in our lives and at the end of the day we have to choose what feels right for us, even when everyone is telling you something else. That’s something that came up again and again for people I have worked with and it’s something I ask folks all the time. What feels right for you?
