Today we’d like to introduce you to Natalie Wong
Hi Natalie, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I was introduced to chiropractic care at a young age as my parents sought alternative and holistic approaches to musculoskeletal health. Throughout my upbringing, I experienced the benefits of chiropractic firsthand, navigating challenges such as sports injuries, car accidents, and post-surgery rehabilitation. Witnessing the significant improvements in my health and that of my family deepened my appreciation for the positive impact chiropractic care can have on everyday life.
During my post-secondary education, I found myself uncertain about my career path. I explored pre-medicine courses and participated in several shadowing experiences, but nothing felt like the right fit. At the same time, my growing interest in business prompted me to consider a switch in my degree.
Everything changed with a pivotal conversation with my longtime chiropractor, Dr. Robson. As we discussed my aspirations to combine healthcare and business, he encouraged me to explore chiropractic as a profession. Initially hesitant, I began attending career fairs, touring various chiropractic schools, and researching the admissions process. This journey led to a profound realization: chiropractic was the perfect fusion of my passions. In 2017, I enrolled in the chiropractic program in Portland, Oregon.
After earning my Doctorate in Chiropractic, I relocated to Seattle, WA, to gain valuable experience as an associate. Working in various clinics allowed me to hone my hands-on skills and observe different operational models. However, after three years, I began to feel burnt out in an industry that often prioritized high patient volume, churning patients in and out of the clinic rather than focusing on quality care. The phrase “chiropractors eat their young” resonated with my own experiences, leading me to the conclusion that I could no longer thrive in that environment.
At the beginning of 2024, I made the bold decision to open my own practice. My vision was to create a welcoming environment that prioritizes patient care, fosters genuine connections, and empowers individuals to take an active role in their health. Although starting my own business came with numerous challenges, I wouldn’t change a thing. As I continue this journey, I look forward to inspiring others to embrace holistic wellness and redefining the perception of chiropractic care as a commitment to quality.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The journey has certainly not been smooth; in fact, I often found myself drawn to the more challenging paths. One of the most significant struggles was discovering my place within the chiropractic profession. Growing up, I experienced chiropractic care firsthand and witnessed the profound impact that ethical and empathetic treatment can have on patients. I learned the value of investing additional time and attention when their bodies needed it most.
Throughout my career, I worked as an associate in three different clinics, each with its own set of challenges. I grappled with the core reason I entered this field: to help individuals alleviate pain, maintain their health, and enhance their mobility. However, the environments I encountered often prioritized revenue over patient care, which conflicted deeply with my principles.
Eventually, I reached a turning point. I had to choose between remaining in a role that was making me increasingly unhappy or making a bold change. The options were stark: either abandon my aspirations of helping others and the years I invested in building relationships and education or reinvent my career on my own terms. I chose the latter, and I have no regrets.
Starting my own practice came with its own set of challenges—managing paperwork, developing marketing strategies, establishing efficient processes, and navigating billing systems. While I had the support of a colleague who had gone through a similar experience a year earlier, I primarily relied on my own resourcefulness to chart this new course.
In the end, this journey has been an incredible learning experience, and it has reinforced my commitment to patient-centered care. I now have the opportunity to create an environment where empathy and ethical treatment are at the forefront, allowing me to fulfill my passion for helping others in a way that aligns with my values.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about AlignWorks Chiropractic?
I recently opened my own clinic with the vision of transforming how chiropractic care is perceived. My focus is on providing ethical, personalized treatment tailored to each individual, steering away from a one-size-fits-all approach. I believe that everyone is unique, and their care should reflect that. I take the time to listen to each patient’s specific needs and concerns, ensuring they feel understood and actively involved in their treatment decisions.
I specialize in providing care for pediatric and pregnancy populations, understanding the unique challenges they encounter. Additionally, I welcome patients of all ages, including families and individuals seeking wellness support, whether they are dealing with acute or chronic conditions. My goal is to create a warm and inviting environment where everyone feels supported on their journey to health and well-being. I strive to foster a space where patients can openly express their concerns and preferences, which not only builds trust but also enhances the effectiveness of their treatment.
What truly distinguishes my clinic is the emphasis on gentle adjustments paired with soft tissue techniques, which I find complement each other for longer-lasting relief. I dedicate 15 to 30 minutes to each follow-up visit, ensuring that patients receive personalized attention and care tailored to their needs. I also value a holistic approach and am always open to collaborating with other practitioners when necessary. If I believe a patient would benefit from an integrated approach, I’m more than willing to refer them or work alongside other healthcare providers, recognizing the importance of comprehensive care.
Ultimately, I want readers to know that my clinic is dedicated to individualized, compassionate care. Whether you seek relief from pain, support during pregnancy, or want to promote your child’s health, my goal is to provide a nurturing environment that meets your unique needs. I invite everyone to experience the difference that a personalized approach to chiropractic care can make.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up, I was quite shy and often kept to myself. I found great joy in spending time with animals and playing with younger kids, enjoying those quieter, nurturing moments. I loved sitting with a pet, sharing a book, or helping children with their games—those interactions gave me a sense of purpose and connection.
As I entered high school, I began to come out of my shell. I joined clubs that encouraged me to engage with others and embraced leadership roles. This transformation deepened my appreciation for community and my desire to support those around me. Ultimately, it inspired me to pursue a career in chiropractic, where I could channel my nurturing instincts into helping kids and families enhance their well-being.
