Today we’d like to introduce you to Logan Boyd.
Hi Logan, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
The most common question I get is why did I start Richmond Flower Truck?
So I have finally decided to answer…
The honest answer is a little unconventional.
The story of the start of Richmond Flower Truck is a story of life and death.
The birth of my daughter, Grace, sparked my love of flowers. Oddly enough her middle name is Adaliya; and “dahlia” is also a beautiful flower.
Cues first birthday theme: “Born to Bloom” 🌸 Which, of course, sends me on a search for a flower truck in Richmond.
My search comes up empty! Whatttt?!?
How does Richmond not have a flower truck?
So I moved on…found a nice nursery for her birthday, and put the thought out of my head.
Then a friend from high school passed away unexpectedly. Her death hit me harder than expected and right before she passed away she had started her own business. It was so beautiful to see her so happy with her business. You could literally see the happiness illuminating from her.
So I made up my mind right then.
I am going to start my flower truck.
The complete opposite of death is life. The truth is we are all on a timeline. So to honor a friend who’s life was tragically cut short; and to ensure I am maximizing the time I have on this earth…I started Richmond Flower Truck.
The light bulb was officially on from that day forward. I established my LLC, I found a trailer, worked on finding someone to help wrap and renovate the trailer, got a business license etc.
Two months. It took two months from when I decided I was going to start Richmond Flower Truck to when we officially hit the streets. I definitely think it was some divine intervention guiding my path because two months is crazy now that I reflect on it. (Lol) But I think it just goes to show that sometimes you just have to step out on faith.
But now as we approach two years after deciding to start Richmond Flower Truck…it has grown to be so much more. In a time when the world has been so negative, I am happy that RFT can be a source of light. I have never encountered anyone angry at the truck; have you ever seen anyone angry around flowers? Nope!
I just want RFT to continue to be a source of positive energy. An inspiration to little girls to follow your dreams. A proof to mothers’ that we CAN do it all. And evidence that you can create the life of your wildest dreams.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The biggest challenge to date has been finding balance. I am a wife and a mother to three children. And I also decided to continue working full time in addition to Richmond Flower Truck. So learning to balance everything was extremely hard! It took me a full year to really adjust to all the changes. But you make time for the things that matter and it was a big priority to me to find balance for all areas in my life. Richmond Flower Truck is something that embodies “me” outside of being a wife and a mother so it brings me so much joy. So taking the time out to really build Richmond Flower Truck was extensive but extremely important and rewarding to me.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
The First & Only Flower Truck in Richmond, Virginia! We are a Mobile Flower Service.
We started with the simple idea of bringing a unique floral experience to you. Richmond Flower Truck is a mobile bouquet bar where you can create your own handpicked bouquet. You start by picking your focal flower. Then you chose your accent flowers. Next you add greenery; then wrap & enjoy!
You can also rent the truck for special events! From Bridal Showers and Birthdays, to girls nights and picnics! We love bringing the floral experience to you!
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
I’ve learned so many things from starting Richmond Flower Truck. I think the biggest lesson I learned is that anything is possible. I took an idea from my head and brought it to life. Sometimes I think about that I am amazed! I don’t have a background in business and I have never desired to be an entrepreneur; but I decided this is what I wanted to do—and I actually did it! I think we are so accustomed to playing small and being humble. But when you really realize you CAN achieve your goals; it’s really inspiring. I speak to so many young women who have dreams of starting a floral business but they let fear hold them back. So that’s definitely the biggest lesson I have learned through this—is to go after your dreams and it IS obtainable.
