Today we’d like to introduce you to Kimberly King

Hi Kimberly, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?

I am a former teenage mother who decided to pursue her dreams despite the circumstances and the many negative opinions. I started college full-time two months after my daughter was born and continued my studies until I received my B.S. in Business Administration. Upon graduating; I worked for the temp service for a couple of years before deciding to go back to school and get my Masters while hoping to become more competitive. After receiving my Masters, I became a Marketing professor due to not being able to get a job in my field; however, my passion for Marketing never stopped. Eventually, I started my own business in 2019 after much frustration with the job market and not feeling as if I was walking in my purpose along with encouragement from others. After a few years of going through the trials and errors of my business and not being able to trademark my name, I have now transitioned into consulting.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?

I would describe my experience as a business owner as a never-ending rollercoaster ride because some seasons are more profitable than others, you are continually learning, and you have to know when to make adjustments. There have been times when I have had to sacrifice my personal life to put in the work to maintain my business, but through all of the obstacles I am still grateful for the lessons I have learned which has led to me elevating myself personally and professionally. There is a sense of peace at times when owning your own business and I enjoy seeing my work in real time.

KDK Marketing Group LLC is now transitioning into KiKua Consulting LLC where I help businesses with business and marketing consulting. I specialize in helping future business owners get started with their business along with potential funding opportunities and helping established businesses with marketing strategies to grow their brand awareness and clientele. I am known for taking time to explain the ends and outs of the process in which businesses are seeking consulting. A lot of times businesses will hire someone in a certain area to handle certain tasks without showing the owner how it’s done. I have had previous clients who had no idea what went into marketing or that their previous person was not meeting basic standards. I have been most proud of the brand kits I have developed for former clients because I can routinely see my work on banners, flyers, and other marketing materials. I want people to know I offer business and marketing packages along with specialized services for business owners who only want to focus on one area of business or marketing.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?

I want people to know that I truly have a passion for helping others and want other business owners to succeed in their endeavors. I understand the pitfalls of being a business owner and how hard it can be to get started or grow your business without adequate knowledge.
