Today we’d like to introduce you to Kathy Chlan
Hi Kathy, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
As a little girl, I always dreamed about being a TV reporter. I attended Rutgers University with a major in Journalism. Graduated and then life happened. I got married and had 2 boys – the oldest being developmentally disabled and a lot of medical problems. The TV career had to be put on hold, but I still held it close to my heart. So, at the age of 40, I pivoted and decided to do something for myself. I took acting, Improv & hosting classes in NYC. I took the leap and every time I got on stage or in front of a camera, I felt at home. I always felt that I was right where I should be. I have been pounding the pavement, so to speak, and never giving up. I am now a lifestyle expert doing TV segments and I love helping women over 40 live their best life and find humor in what life throws at you.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Smooth road is not in my vocabulary. I have had to fight for everything I have ever gotten and I think that has made me who I am. Many mistakes and “almost” moments have made me realize that life is not a race, but a marathon. It is okay if it takes you longer to reach your goals. Age is just a number. Having a child with a disability has shown me that taking longer to accomplish things is okay. You don’t sweat the small stuff. And my younger son has shown me that kindness, empathy, acceptance & humor are most important in life. I know that my older son will be taken care of by my younger son. So, I will always drive on the bumpy road with a smile and laughter!
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

What does success mean to you?
Success is when you look in the mirror and you like who you see. It’s about how you treat people and what they will say about you when you are not there. I have never defined “success” on how much money you make or have because money comes and goes. A person’s character is what success is.
