Today we’d like to introduce you to Kachelle Roark

Hi Kachelle, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.

After graduating from high school, I went to college, as is often encouraged for young people. Although I did well in college, I felt an aching void inside, knowing that I wasn’t supposed to be there. One day, while I was crying, I asked the Lord to reveal to me what I was supposed to be doing because I knew I was meant for something else. A few weeks later, I started becoming more interested in hair. Shortly after, I decided to finish out the rest of the school year and go to cosmetology school. Once I made that decision, doors began to open for me. I entered cosmetology school in 2014 and finished in 10 months. I gained experience in three different states over the span of ten years.

While working with clients, I noticed that hair loss was a big issue, and I didn’t have the answers after experiencing hair loss myself after having my daughter. This fueled my desire to become the solution. Soon after, I became a certified trichologist and created a natural growth tea remedy for non-scarring hair loss in 2021. This blend yielded fast results, but it wasn’t convenient for clients to use at home. At that time, I knew I wanted to create a comprehensive hair care line but didn’t have the means to do it.

One year later, my family and I relocated to another city, and I was introduced to resources and programs that helped me rebrand and structure as a start-up company. So in 2023, I stepped away from behind the chair to fulfill my dream of creating a plant-based hair revitalizing line. In March of 2024, I launched it, and it has been receiving great reviews and delivering excellent results.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?

I don’t believe that “smooth road” and “entrepreneurship” go well together. No journey is ever smooth, but it’s all about our perception of it. Maintaining an attitude of gratitude has been rewarding for me in my journey and has helped me connect with my emotions.

One of the biggest challenges in my journey has been transitioning between different states as a stylist and having to rebuild my career. The most difficult transition so far has been pivoting from behind the chair. I had to set aside what I loved because that season was over and learn an entirely new part of the industry that was unfamiliar to me. I had to learn about capital, formulas, in-depth systems, analytics, logistics, and much more.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

Chelle’s Haute Seat is a hair care and wellness start-up company founded in 2021 and launched in 2024. It is a black woman-owned business that helps individuals achieve thicker, fuller, and healthier hair using plant-based ingredients. The company’s first hair care system includes DHT-inhibiting shampoo, conditioner, hair growth serum, and supplements. These products work at a cellular level to stimulate follicles, promote hair growth, restore moisture, strengthen strands, and minimize shedding and hair loss.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?

The most important lessons I’ve learned along my journey are to be tenacious and firm in who you are. It’s essential to have a plan to execute, but it’s also important to be flexible because the plan will change, and that’s okay. The more flexible I am, the easier it is to maneuver through the hard times. I will not compare my success timeline to someone doing something similar to me because I have my calling and impact that another person can’t fulfill. No matter how hard things get, I will stay the course to see it through.
