Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenny Jolley

Jenny, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?

While I’ve loved photography since middle school, I never used professional-level gear until I started photographing weddings in 2018 and instantly fell in love! I’ve been focusing weddings ever since. I began as a second photographer for other photographers, then jumped in photographing my own weddings in 2019. I think being a second photographer really helped me observe and notice the fine details of weddings and learn how to make a wedding flow smoothly as a photographer. I wouldn’t be noticing the details and candids I capture today or prepping my couples for their wedding days without the experience I have from working with other photographers!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?

In the first few years after I started my business, I really struggled with comparison in the wedding photographer community. I would scroll gorgeous Instagram feeds until I felt less than other photographers and would wonder why anyone would hire me over “xyz” photographer I see on Instagram. I saw my value in the number of weddings I booked, the number of followers I had, and the number of interactions I had on a social media post. I’ve learned that followers, social media interactions, and even a certain number of weddings does not mean success. Success is a very personal, unique goal for each photographer and I learned I’ll never find what success looks like to me by scrolling Instagram feeds of other photographers! Now I scroll Instagram less and it’s to support fellow photographers, not compare!

Yes, let me tell you about Jenny Jolley Photography! I have served engaged couples as well as families, seniors, and businesses since July 2019! I specialize in wedding photography and provide a full experience not just on the wedding day, but before and after as well! I believe my heart of service sets me apart from the others;. I am always putting the couple and their experience of their wedding day first. I don’t only serve as a photographer. I serve as a wedding expert, a chaos coordinator, and as someone who cares like your best friend. When I’m more than just a wedding vendor, you can be vulnerable around me and trust me to take care of you on your wedding day! My brand really focuses on providing light and vibrant heirlooms (your first ones as a married couple!) and an experience that you and your friends and family will rave about after the wedding day!

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?

Success is such an intimate, personalized accomplishment. For me, success looks like working with couples that I strongly connect with, taking photos in locations that make my jaw drop, and a little bit of adventure here and there at sessions and weddings. Success also looks like being able to spend days off with my husband and pets, expanding my gear and tools so I can continue to grow as a photographer, and focusing on what brings me joy instead of what drains me.
