Today we’d like to introduce you to Jake Stahl
Hi Jake, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I began my career as a sales representative, working for four international companies. I achieved top sales rep status at three of the four—though I’d still like another shot at that fourth one! Eventually, my manager asked if I would consider training others, and despite not knowing how to teach what came naturally to me, I seized the opportunity. It felt like a pivotal moment, as if the universe was saying, “This is your calling.”
I quickly found my stride and soon became one of the most sought-after trainers and speakers within the company. During that time, I co-authored seven patents and contributed to the development of both a Learning Management System and a Customer Relationship Management system from the ground up.
Eventually, I ventured into consulting, a move that allowed me to expand my reach. Over the years, I’ve trained more than 10,000 professionals across 47 states and six countries. While I’d describe myself as a product of my mistakes rather than my successes, those experiences have provided invaluable lessons in understanding people and the impact of effective communication. My academic background in Psychology, combined with Coaching and Master Certifications in Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), has further enhanced my ability to connect with and inspire others.
Today, I work with corporate clients to develop comprehensive training and development programs from scratch, and I train their sales teams to break new sales records. Additionally, I coach individual clients using NLP techniques, helping them overcome challenges ranging from imposter syndrome to public speaking anxiety, or simply unlocking their full potential. It’s been an incredible journey, and I’m proud of where it has taken me.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No, the journey has been anything but smooth. As I mentioned earlier, I am truly the product of my mistakes, many of which were the result of early success. When I first started, I was inexperienced and lacked the wisdom necessary for the business world. My youthful arrogance and pride often clouded my judgment, leading me down some difficult paths. In addition to these challenges, I faced significant health issues that sidelined me for nearly two years. During that time, I lost my job, my home, and went through a divorce, leaving me to nearly start over in my late 40s. Thankfully, I had the support of family and friends, who helped me gradually get my life back on track.
The challenges weren’t limited to my personal life; they extended into my professional world as well. For example, working internationally introduced complications such as language barriers, localization, and cultural differences. On top of that, building an LMS and CRM from scratch? The sleepless nights far outweighed the restful ones. While these experiences provided invaluable learning opportunities, the stress was immense.
Later in life, transitioning from the stability of a corporate environment with a steady paycheck and benefits to relying solely on myself and my business was another significant hurdle. Starting a new venture inevitably comes with its share of mistakes, many of which I experienced firsthand. This is one of the reasons I’m passionate about executive coaching—I strive to help others avoid the pitfalls I encountered so they can start off on stronger footing.
It’s easy to view certain experiences as losses, but I’ve come to see “losses” as simply “lessons” misspelled, where the missing “N” stands for navigation. Speaking from personal experience, I’ve had to redirect my course many times throughout my career, and each adjustment has been a valuable lesson in itself.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
With over 20 years of experience training 10,000+ professionals across six countries, I’ve developed a pioneering approach to sales and business development that goes beyond conventional methods. As a Sales and Business Development Neurostrategist, I fuse neuroscience, behavioral psychology, and communication strategies to optimize every stage of the business growth process—lead generation, pitching, pricing negotiations, and client retention.
What is Neurostrategy?
Neurostrategy involves applying insights from neuroscience and psychology to business development. It’s about understanding how the brain processes information, makes decisions, and responds to stimuli. By aligning strategies with these cognitive processes, businesses can engage prospects and clients more effectively, reduce resistance, and drive action with ease. Whether it’s crafting compelling emails, perfecting follow-up techniques, or closing high-stakes deals, neurostrategy ensures that every interaction is aligned with how people naturally think and act.
How I Apply Neurostrategy to Business Development
I integrate behavioral insights and neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) with practical sales and business strategies to help businesses build genuine connections that drive long-term growth. My approach focuses on creating trust, removing friction in decision-making, and crafting strategies that resonate with the psychology behind why people buy and engage.
Key Achievements:
– Trained and mentored over 10,000 professionals worldwide, leading to 2x-3x increases in sales for clients.
– Developed over 100 proprietary training programs and workshops, leading to international award-winning performance improvements for sales teams and business developers.
– International speaker on business development and neurostrategy, with a focus on practical, real-world applications for immediate impact.
– Creator of systems that blend value-based selling with behavioral science, ensuring clients achieve both immediate and long-term success.
My Philosophy:
Effective business development isn’t about pushing for quick wins or relying on outdated techniques. It’s about deeply understanding human behavior and aligning your strategies to create real value for your prospects and clients. My goal is to help businesses rethink their approach to sales and business growth, creating sustainable, ethical success by engineering smarter, more natural conversations.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
I am increasingly concerned about the current direction of training and business development. The growing reliance on AI-generated content and one-size-fits-all programs is shifting focus away from what truly drives success—personalized learning, deep knowledge retention, and the development of practical skills. While AI has its place in modern training systems, I’m seeing too many platforms churn out repetitive content in subscription-based models, which ultimately prioritize revenue over real learning outcomes.
What’s being lost in this trend is the human element—the need for tailored programs that meet the unique needs of individuals and organizations. Passing an online course with a multiple-choice test and receiving a certificate doesn’t equate to mastering a skill. True training should ensure the retention of knowledge, proficiency in application, and ongoing professional growth.
That’s where neurostrategy comes in. My approach is designed to cut through the noise, combining behavioral psychology, neuroscience, and practical business strategies to build customized training solutions. This method ensures that individuals not only learn but truly understand and apply what they’ve learned in meaningful ways. My focus is on creating real value, fostering genuine connections, and empowering businesses to achieve long-term growth and success.
Does this approach work? I invite you to judge for yourself. With over 50 LinkedIn recommendations spanning 18 years, I believe the results speak for themselves.
