Today we’d like to introduce you to Heather Regal Salmon
Hi Heather, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My journey has been one of embracing the transformative power of creativity, spirituality, and healing. Growing up in Toronto, with a blend of Jamaican and Celtic heritage, I was drawn to explore both the mystical and the tangible. After completing my degree in Economics, I embarked on a dynamic career in international events, working with global organizations like the NBA. Yet, despite my success, there was a deeper call stirring within—a call to find greater purpose and connection.
This path led me to Los Angeles, where I pursued acting and modeling as avenues of self-expression. Here, I discovered the profound alchemy of the performing arts and their ability to inspire change. It was in these moments of creative exploration that I unearthed my gift as a channel for healing and awakening—a gift that called me toward a life of sacred service.
Through a series of serendipitous events, I found myself stepping fully into my role as a High Priestess, ordained in the Essene and Temple of Isis lineages. This sacred path revealed itself not just as a spiritual calling, but as a way to merge the wisdom of the ancient with the needs of the present, blending spirituality with creativity and ritual to bring forth healing.
Co-creating the Black Swan Temple & Farm with my beloved husband Donny on Maui’s lush north shore has been the fulfillment of this vision. The Temple is a sanctuary of transformation for those seeking to awaken their inner wisdom and live in harmony with nature’s rhythms. Here, we cultivate the land, growing fruits, flowers, and herbs that support our healing practices. Our offerings are guided by the cycles of nature and the stars, inspiring those who visit to embrace peace, restore balance, and awaken their soul’s true essence.
We hold space for those longing for personal growth and spiritual awakening through yoga, sound healing, Reiki, and immersive ceremonies. Together, Donny and I weave our decades of experience to create transformative journeys and multimedia prayerformances, each inspired by the energies of astrology, the wisdom of the ancestors, and the call to co-create a more harmonious and just world.
Today, my mission is to inspire others to step into their sovereignty, heal from the wounds of the past, and illuminate their path with the light of their true purpose. As a priestess, sound healer, and cultural creative, my heart is devoted to guiding others towards reclaiming their innate power, embracing their truth, and living in harmony with the Earth and all her beings.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Like any journey of transformation, my path has been marked by moments of profound challenge and growth. One of the most significant obstacles I faced was the courageous decision to leave behind a conventional career in international events and later in Hollywood, to fully embrace my spiritual calling. Stepping away from a path of external validation and societal expectations to pursue the unknown required an unwavering trust in my inner voice and purpose. It meant letting go of the security and familiarity of my past career and trusting that the universe would provide the guidance and support I needed.
Another challenge has been in breaking through the limitations of generational trauma and past life karmas—not just within myself, but in guiding others through this deep and sacred healing. As an ordained priestess and healer, I’ve learned to face these wounds head-on, both personally and collectively, understanding that this work often brings to light old patterns that must be released for true healing and freedom to take place. This path required immense patience, compassion, and the willingness to confront shadows and pain, trusting in the light that awaits on the other side.
Co-creating the Black Swan Temple & Farm has been both a profound blessing and a unique challenge. Transitioning to living off-grid on the beautiful yet remote north shore of Maui, we faced the challenge of building an eco-sanctuary from the ground up. This meant not only physically cultivating the land to grow the fruits, flowers, and herbs that support our healing practices but also creating a sanctuary for others to experience their own transformation. There were times when the land and nature’s forces tested our resolve, requiring resilience and a deep connection to the Earth’s rhythms.
Navigating the balance between maintaining a sacred and healing environment at the Temple, while also managing the demands of running a business and supporting a global community, has been a continuous dance of flexibility and focus. I have had to find new ways to cultivate my energy, maintain clear boundaries, and prioritize self-care, ensuring that my cup remains full so that I can continue to hold space for others.
Throughout these experiences, I have come to understand that obstacles are an essential part of the journey—teaching us to trust in our resilience and the sacred timing of all things. Each challenge has become a gateway to deeper wisdom, and a reminder to embrace the ebb and flow of life with grace and gratitude.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Black Swan Temple & Farm?
At the heart of my work lies Black Swan Temple & Farm, an eco-sanctuary of transformation nestled on Maui’s lush north shore. Co-founded with my husband Donny Regalmuto, this sacred space was born out of a shared vision to create a sanctuary where people could reconnect with their inner wisdom, heal, and awaken to their highest potential. Guided by the rhythms of nature, the cosmos, and the wisdom of ancient lineages, our mission is to provide a nurturing environment where transformation can unfold with grace and support.
Black Swan Temple & Farm is more than just a place; it is a living, breathing sanctuary. We are committed to sustainable living and cultivating the land to grow vibrant fruits, flowers, and herbs that support our healing practices. This connection to the land is integral to our work, reminding us and our guests of the sacred bond we share with the Earth and her abundant gifts. By living in harmony with nature, we invite others to experience a deep sense of grounding, balance, and peace.
Our retreats and programs offer a unique blend of yoga, sound healing, Reiki, immersive ceremonies, and teachings rooted in the Sevenfold Path of Peace and the ancient mysteries. Each experience is thoughtfully designed to guide spiritual seekers, wellness enthusiasts, and those longing for personal growth on a journey of restoration, healing, and awakening. Through sacred sound, ritual, and immersive practices, we create spaces for individuals to release what no longer serves them and embrace the truth of their soul’s purpose.
A significant aspect of our work at Black Swan Temple is the use of sound healing, which has become a cornerstone of our offerings. My husband Donny, an accomplished music producer and keyboardist, and I work together to create healing soundscapes using 432hz crystal singing bowls, voice, and other sacred instruments. The vibrations and frequencies of these sound journeys are designed to activate the energy centers, promote deep relaxation, and unlock the body’s innate capacity to heal and transform.
In addition to our in-person offerings, Donny and I have co-authored several books, including Moon Ritual Alchemy, Moon Ritual Alchemy Journal, and the World Fusion Plant-Based Recipe Book. Each of these works draws from our teachings, practices, and way of living, offering practical tools for transformation, mindful living, and deep connection to lunar rhythms. We believe that the practice of ritual, whether in the kitchen, under the light of the moon, or through daily intentions, is a powerful gateway to creating lasting change and deeper self-awareness.
Our journey as creative artists has also led us into the world of filmmaking. Together, we’ve created the award-winning short films Avatar Gates of Power and 42 Ideals of Maat, which have received international recognition for their visionary approach to multimedia storytelling. These films are an extension of our work, merging sound, visual arts, and healing into immersive experiences that resonate with the soul and inspire change.
One of the most powerful extensions of our work is leading spiritual pilgrimages to ancient Egypt. These journeys allow seekers to experience the transformative energy of sacred sites, connect with ancient wisdom, and explore the mysteries that have called to humanity for millennia. We feel deeply honored to guide these pilgrimages, creating opportunities for participants to align with the energies of Egypt and deepen their spiritual practices.
Our vision for Black Swan Temple & Farm is to be a sanctuary where the ancient and the modern, the creative and the sacred, come together in harmony. It is a place for those seeking to restore balance, embrace peace, and awaken their soul’s true essence. As a priestess, healer, and cultural creative, I am honored to be a steward of this space and to share the journey with those who feel called to step into their power and truth.
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
The past few years have brought immense challenges to our retreat business and the broader community here on Maui. Both the Covid lockdown and the recent Maui Wildfires had a profound impact, disrupting not only tourism but also our ability to gather and hold sacred space. Yet, these crises also offered invaluable lessons in resilience, adaptability, and the strength of community.
During the Covid lockdown, the world seemed to come to a standstill, and like many others, we faced the reality of no longer being able to host in-person retreats and events. This period of stillness brought uncertainty, but it also became a fertile ground for new ventures. It was during this time that Donny and I took on filmmaking, exploring new ways to convey our message and extend our reach. We also responded to the requests of our retreat clients and wrote the *World Fusion Plant-Based Recipe Book*, capturing the essence of our retreat cuisine and sharing it with a broader audience. This experience reinforced the importance of being adaptable and creative in how we continue to share our work and connect with our community.
More recently, the devastating Maui Wildfires brought another wave of challenges. As we faced the loss and upheaval, the most significant lesson we learned was the power of resilience and the importance of community. Amidst the ashes, we discovered the incredible strength that comes from supporting one another and the importance of holding space for collective healing. It was during this recovery period that we channeled our energy into writing *Moon Ritual Alchemy* and *Moon Ritual Alchemy Journal*, creating offerings to guide others in working with the cycles of the moon and deepening their spiritual practices. We also started an online community, fostering a space where people could find connection, healing, and inspiration despite the physical distance.
These crises have taught us that within every challenge lies an opportunity for growth and renewal. We’ve come to understand the impermanence of all things and the need to be rooted in trust, adaptability, and compassion. By embracing change with grace, we can transform adversity into an opportunity for deeper connection and purpose. These experiences have reaffirmed our commitment to creating spaces where people can find solace, healing, and the strength to rise from the ashes—both literally and metaphorically.
At Black Swan Temple & Farm, our mission remains rooted in guiding others towards peace and inner wisdom, even amidst life’s storms. These challenges have deepened our connection to the land, to each other, and to the power of community, inspiring us to hold space for transformation with even greater purpose and clarity.
