Today we’d like to introduce you to Heather Plant.
Hi Heather, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Great question! My journey into natural healing and plant medicine started very early in life. I grew up facing various health challenges and often felt overlooked by modern medicine. The solutions I was offered either didn’t work or didn’t address the root of my struggles. At the same time, I found refuge and a deep sense of connection in nature. I’ve always felt most alive and at peace surrounded by the beauty of the natural world.
This combination, a need for healing and a love of nature, sparked my passion for learning about natural medicine, especially herbalism. I’ve spent over two decades studying different approaches to natural healing through formal training and personal experience. What’s funny is, even when I enrolled in my very first herbalism class, it wasn’t about fixing my own problems. It was about helping others.
Over time, as I saw how empowering it was to truly understand and support my body’s needs, I felt compelled to share that knowledge. I wanted others to feel that same sense of control and connection to their health. What started as a personal passion slowly grew into something bigger. I began working with clients, teaching workshops, and eventually opened Magical Plants, an herbal wellness center nestled in the hills of Massachusetts.
Now, I support women in reducing stress, navigating health challenges, and infusing a bit of magic into their lives. Through one-on-one coaching and classes on plant medicine, holistic living, and even the magical side of wellness, I’m able to do what I love most: help others feel heard, understood, empowered to heal, and feel more connected with the natural world around them.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Let’s just say it’s been a pretty bumpy road with some sharp turns!
When I first started my business, I had so much to learn and no idea what I was doing. Getting the logistics figured out took a lot of time and effort, and on top of that, my personal life was full of change and stress. Around that same time, I developed severe endometriosis, and for a whole year, I could barely plan anything. Most nights, I’d wake up in unbearable pain, and my morning routines- or any routines- completely fell apart. I was in full-on survival mode.
I sought out doctors, herbalists, and other natural health practitioners, but just like earlier in my life, no one could help me. Once again, I was forced to figure out my own way to heal while still maintaining my clients and supporting their needs. It was one of the most difficult times in my life. Everything felt like it was on my shoulders to fix. But thankfully, I did find a way to heal again. I got better, and through that experience, I gained even more tools and insights to help other women navigate health challenges, especially the loneliness and frustration that comes with conditions no one seems to understand or know how to fix.
Things smoothed out for a while, until Covid hit. Like so many others, my business came to a halt because everything I did at the time was face-to-face. On top of that, I started homeschooling my kids, which became a full-time job in itself, so I had to step back, reassess, and figure out how to move forward. During that time, the idea for my first program, The Calming Toolkit, was born. It’s a 9-week program designed to help women manage stress and anxiety holistically. Creating it was a labor of love that took me a whole year, but it also marked the beginning of the next phase of my business. Now, most of what I do is online.
That said, I’ve started feeling a pull back toward more in-person connection and creative work. My business is evolving again as I plan to offer more in person wellness intensives, and also shifting towards helping more business owners with their own transition in creating a sustainable business, plus writing a new book as well- a new chapter I’m excited about!
I also have to admit, I’m a total introvert and used to consider myself a very private person. In the beginning, putting myself out there to run a business was incredibly uncomfortable. It took years before I felt even remotely at ease on camera. These days, I sometimes feel like my audience knows more about me than my family does (haha!). In many ways, this journey has been a deeply healing process for me, just as much as for my clients and students.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Magical Plants?
My business, Magical Plants, is a holistic wellness center that offers classes, 1:1 services, and an on-site herb farm and apothecary. The heart of Magical Plants is about empowering women to take control of their health and well-being through natural, holistic methods. As a trained clinical herbalist, I primarily work with plant medicine, but my true specialty is helping women reduce stress and anxiety- something I believe is the foundation of feeling well and living a healthier, more balanced life. I also have a deep connection with the intuitive and magical world, so I love helping women infuse a sense of magic into their daily routines and reconnect with the natural world around them.
What sets Magical Plants apart is my approach. I’m not just teaching about herbs or wellness in a generic way- I bring nearly two decades of formal training as a clinical herbalist, combined with personal experience navigating health challenges firsthand. This allows me to create a safe and supportive space, especially for women who have felt unseen or unsupported by traditional systems. Magical Plants isn’t just about natural healing, it’s about making that healing feel accessible, empowering, and even a little magical. From working directly with clients 1:1 to my 9-week The Calming Toolkit program, which focuses on managing stress holistically, to shorter workshops, mini-courses, and printable tools, I provide resources for every step of the journey.
I’m incredibly proud of how my brand has grown to balance both the practical and the magical. The programs and services I’ve created aren’t just about solving problems, they’re about inspiring a mindset shift, helping people rediscover their power, and creating moments of calm and connection in their busy lives. I want the people I work with to experience real change so they can enjoy life more and feel confident in managing their health and how they feel.
What I’d love readers to know is that Magical Plants is here to meet them where they are. Whether you’re curious about herbalism, looking to reduce stress, starting your own online business, or wanting to live a more intentional and magical life, there’s something here for you. And if you’re local, I’m thrilled to be bringing back in-person wellness intensives soon for even deeper connection and transformation.
What matters most to you?
Oh, that’s a tough one! Beyond my family, I’d say what matters most to me is feeling well and helping others feel that too, not just physically, but emotionally and spiritually as well. When we feel good, we’re able to show up as the best version of ourselves, pursue our passions, and create meaningful change in the world. On the other hand, when we’re weighed down by constant symptoms, stress, or discomfort, even getting through the day can feel overwhelming, let alone living a purposeful life. That’s why I’m so passionate about the work I do. I’ve experienced both sides, the struggle of not feeling my best and the joy of feeling on top of the world, and I want others to experience that transformation as well. Ultimately, when my clients and students feel their best, they’re unstoppable. They can tap into their unique gifts, make positive changes in their lives, and even contribute to making the world a better place for everyone.
