Hi Felicia, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?

I grew up watching my grandmother and mother spend hours in the mirror, taking care of their skin and applying their amazing-smelling concoctions. I remember it like it was yesterday. Their vanities were treasure troves of Sea Breeze, St. Ives, Fashion Fair, Noxzema, and countless other brands. But just because the bottle or jar had a recognizable label didn’t mean the original product was still in there. So, sneaking a dab for my own routine without asking, “What’s in this?” was a tricky game!

I vividly remember being out with them and hearing the routine compliments, “You smell so amazing!” or “Your skin is radiant, what are you using?!” Back then, keeping your beauty secret sauce to yourself was the norm. And from that point on, I was hooked—obsessed with all things cosmetics!

When it came time to choose a major, I knew Chemistry was my ticket to becoming a cosmetic chemist. However, without modern conveniences like email for sending resumes, Google for job searches, or LinkedIn for networking, breaking into the industry seemed like a daunting task. But I found my angle—FASHION! In my mind, beauty and fashion go hand in hand, so I set my sights on New York to dip my toes into the fashion world and eventually leap into beauty. I moved to New York, spent over 20 years in fashion, and the rest is history!

Today, I am proud to say I’ve been a licensed medical aesthetician for over 15 years. I’ve also formulated my own men’s skincare line, body care line, and a natural deep physical chemical peel that has been transforming skin since the pandemic. It’s been an incredible journey, and I’m just getting started!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?

The challenge of leaving the fashion industry to follow my heart’s desire and start my own brand and skincare clinic has NOT been an easy road. As I was financially preparing for retirement, I did the opposite—I invested my entire retirement savings and investments into opening my business. My best friend, also a fashion vet, shared the same passions, so we took the leap and launched on January 20th, 2020. And then, the pandemic hit just two months later. It has definitely been a journey.

I won’t sugarcoat it; the road has been filled with bumps and detours. We launched our dream just before the world turned upside down, and it was tough. But through determination and sheer willpower, we persevered. I’m proud to say we’ve not only survived but grown. Over the past four years, our business has expanded into massage and Reiki services. Our team has grown, too, which is incredibly rewarding.

With the current economic climate, we’re navigating through some rough waters, but we’re surviving. We are truly grateful for our clients and community for their continued support. Their trust and loyalty keep us going, and we’re committed to providing them with the best care possible.
