Hi Christina, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey into the world of Functional Nutrition Coaching is one of transformation and passion. At the age of 40, I made a significant life decision to leave behind my 20-year career in tax and accounting. With a BS in Accounting and an MS in Taxation and Financial Planning from Northeastern University, I spent five years in public accounting and another fourteen years in a single-family office setting. While this career offered stability and financial security, it lacked personal fulfillment and ultimately impacted my health and well-being.
As an introvert, stepping into a client-facing role was daunting. However, I felt a deep calling to pursue my passion for health and nutrition. My journey towards better health began with my own struggles. For years, I suffered from chronic tension headaches and migraines, relying on prescription medications that only masked the symptoms rather than addressing the root cause. Determined to find a natural solution, I overhauled my diet, eliminating processed foods and embracing an organic, whole-food lifestyle. The results were astounding—I was able to live free from daily headaches and medication. Along the way, I faced other health challenges, but each time, I turned to nutrition and lifestyle changes to not only heal but also strengthen my body. These personal experiences reinforced my belief in the transformative power of real, whole foods and ignited my passion to help others achieve the same level of health and vitality through personalized, sustainable strategies. I became determined to share this knowledge and support others on their health journeys. To turn this passion into purpose, I went back to school, earning certifications in Health Coaching and Functional Nutrition.
Today, I find immense fulfillment in helping others achieve their health goals, using the very strategies that transformed my own life. The journey has been both challenging and rewarding, filled with continuous personal growth. Though it’s been a leap outside my comfort zone, I’m profoundly grateful for the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Transitioning from a tax professional to a Functional Nutrition Coach was both challenging and immensely rewarding. I’ve witnessed firsthand how profoundly nutrition can influence our health, and I believe that achieving wellness doesn’t have to be complicated. While many people understand what they need to do, they often lack the resources and support to make lasting changes. As a nutrition coach, I am dedicated to helping individuals lead healthier lives by equipping them with the tools and guidance they need to succeed.
Starting my own Functional Nutrition Coaching practice, Christina Dennis Wellness, came with its own set of obstacles. Building a client base from scratch, marketing my services, and establishing a presence in the health and wellness community requires persistence and resilience.
There were moments of self-doubt and times where progress seemed slow, but the journey has been incredibly fulfilling. Each challenge has provided an opportunity for growth and learning. Seeing the positive changes in my clients’ lives and knowing that I can make a meaningful difference keeps me motivated. The satisfaction of helping others achieve their health goals and witnessing their transformations is truly rewarding.
