Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexis Elizabeth Ramdaou
Hi Alexis Elizabeth, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My adolescence was challenging, I grew up with limited resources, and my mother was ill during my formative years, eventually passing away when I was a teenager. As her health declined, I found myself in the role of caregiver, navigating the complexities of illness, pain, and loss at an age when most of my peers were preoccupied with trivial teenage concerns. To cope, I sought ways to express myself through art. I started in musical theatre at a very young age, which opened up a world of creation for me. It allowed me to escape the hardships of everyday life by stepping into different worlds and stories.
Through theatre, I was constantly exposed to a kaleidoscope of human experiences. People from all walks of life crossed my path, each with their own struggles, triumphs, and stories to tell. Despite our differences in background, culture, and circumstance, we were bound together by the raw and universal thread of human emotion.
As I got older, I realized I wanted to share my own stories and help others find their voice. I focused on songwriting and story producing my own material, learning the tools to build something from the ground up and see it through to completion. I felt it was important to understand every aspect of the creation process, so I learned each piece step by step, from pre-production through post-production. This allowed me to contribute to every part of the project and become a more knowledgeable and effective collaborator. I started creating shows and projects from the ground up and this experience gave me a deep understanding of how to craft compelling narratives and manage complex production workflows while maintaining the integrity of the story and its purpose.
My work became my mission—a journey to capture the essence of the human experience through songs, podcasts, writing, art, and whatever medium allows me to weave the tapestry of human stories with authenticity and empathy.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I feel like “smooth” in most transitions is an illusion. I think it’s the mindset you create during the process that matters. Learning new tools and processes requires a lot of perseverance. Each step, from pre-production to post-production, came with its own set of challenges. There were moments of self-doubt, technical hurdles, and the constant need to prove myself and my abilities. Despite these struggles, each obstacle taught me valuable lessons and made me more resilient.
Some of the things I’ve learned along the way are its important to adopt growth mindset, see each challenges as opportunities for learning and growth, making you more open to change, taking risks, and trying new things. Embrace failure as a temporary setback and a chance to learn fosters resilience and continuous improvement. Setting clear and specific goals to help you focus on positive future outcomes, while maintaining an optimistic and proactive attitude enables you to thrive even during uncomfortable transitions. Being flexible and open to new ideas, perspectives, and possibilities is crucial for adaptation. Developing emotional intelligence enhances your ability to understand and manage your emotions, as well as empathize with others. Additionally, leaning on your support network for collaboration and encouragement can provide valuable strength and guidance.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
For those early in their journey, my advice would be:

2. Constantly be learning from those around you: Surround yourself with resources that can support your growth. Stay curious and recognize that there is always room for improvement. Seek out opportunities to expand your knowledge and skill set.
3. Embrace failure as a stepping stone to success: Understand that failure is not a reflection of your worth or potential. Instead, view it as an opportunity for growth and learning.
