Today we’d like to introduce you to Akleema Ali
Hi Akleema, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I crossed paths with Reiki when I was doing personal research about how to balance my chakras. I have always had an interest in the metaphysical and in how a person’s energy field may be affected by their thoughts and emotions. My initial research to balance my own energy field led me to the chakra system. The chakra system is a fundamental concept in various Eastern spiritual traditions, particularly in Hinduism and Buddhism, describing the seven main energy centers in the human body. Each chakra is believed to be a spinning wheel of energy that corresponds to specific physical, emotional, and spiritual functions. These chakras start from the base of the spine and ascend to the top of the head, each associated with a different color, element, and set of attributes. The chakras are crucial for maintaining the body’s energetic balance, and when they are in harmony, they contribute to overall well-being, health, and spiritual growth. Understanding and working with the chakra system can help individuals address imbalances, promote healing, and enhance their connection to themselves and the universe. I read that Reiki was a modality that could help balance your chakras. I definitely felt at that time in my life, that my energy field was heavy and I seemed to feel very burdened with my life’s challenges.
Very soon after I started researching about chakras, a family member was signing up to learn Reiki. At that point in time, I had no interest in learning about Reiki or being a healer for others; I just wanted to balance myself and learn more about what would work best for me and my wellness path. I attended the Reiki Level I/II class and within six months; I found myself wanting to further Reiki and pursue this path towards being a Master practitioner. I can honestly say that Reiki has been one of the most unpredictable paths and definitely an adventure in my life.
Since being attuned to Reiki, I have kept myself quite busy engaging and connecting with Reiki communities and practitioners over the globe. I have participated in numerous conferences on Reiki, wellness, healing and women’s empowerment. In addition, I have contributed to the Reiki community by sharing my life journey with Reiki through several articles. I am humbled that along my path with Reiki I have been blessed to be awarded as one of the “Top 10 Energy Healers of 2022 & 2023” by The Energy Healing Magazine in France. In 2024 thus far, I have received the “Woman to Watch Award” by Women’s Biz Magazine in Australia and the “CREA Global Award” by BRAINZ Magazine in Sweden. As I remain on this path, I continue to educate others about Reiki as a modality that can bring much relaxation, peace and calm to their lives.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Reiki is an alternative and complementary modality which has its roots in Japanese culture. My path with Reiki has not always been a smooth road as not many people in the Caribbean are aware of the modality or how it heals. Many times people mistakenly think it is a religion and therefore refrain from learning more about it. I have met people whose belief systems do not allow them to be open minded about metaphysics and they do not “believe in energy healing.” The internet also contains wrong and misguided information about Reiki, so even if a person researches Reiki; they would not know if they were receiving the correct information.
The benefit in meeting struggles are that within them lie the solutions. Many Reiki practitioners and teachers devote much of their time to Reiki education and awareness so that individuals will be able to gain knowledge about the modality and they would be able to consider this modality as a complementary therapy in their life journey. There are also many professional Reiki organizations and groups that a person can join so that they can ensure that they receive the information from a valid and reliable source with trained personnel in the field. Reiki is a path that definitely has its challenges but there have been significant leaps in its field. More people are getting certified and trained in Reiki. In many parts of the world; schools, hospitals, sports and health clinics have a Reiki program or practitioner available.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about The Reiki Lighthouse?
I’m Akleema Ali and I am the proud owner of The Reiki Lighthouse in the beautiful Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. I am an Usui Reiki Master, an Usui/Holy Fire© III Reiki Master, a Holy Fire© III Karuna© Reiki Master, Animal Reiki Practitioner, a Psychic Reiki Practitioner, a Reiki Drumming Practitioner, an Access Bar Practitioner and a Rahaani 5D Celestial Healing Practitioner. At the heart of my practice is the creation of a sacred space and sanctuary for those seeking grounding, emotional healing, clarity, and an infusion of peace and calm into their lives.
I have always been passionate about health and wellness, currently spanning 20 years in the field. My perspective on health and wellness first focused on the clinical aspects of mental health in adolescents. I have completed research on depression, suicidal ideation and public health issues which have been published in journals such as International Journal of Adolescent Medicine and Health, Social Psychiatry and Psychiatric Epidemiology and European Child & Adolescent Psychiatry.
After spending a few years with clinical studies, I found they were limited in providing resourceful information regarding support and available solutions for mental health issues. I began to investigate alternative therapies for health and wellness. Entering the world of Reiki has allowed me to embrace this modality as my primary modality for peace, relaxation and stress reduction. I have been quite passionate in educating people about Reiki and sharing my life experiences with others. I have many publications and articles on Reiki, meditation, health and wellness; some of which are available on my website under “Free Resources.”
What matters most to you?
At this point in time in my life, I would definitely say finding more ways to embrace life, accepting your life journey, setting boundaries and living your life fully are what matters most to me.
As a Reiki Practitioner, embracing life is fundamental. Reiki teaches us to be present in each moment, to appreciate the energy that flows through us and around us. Embracing life means acknowledging and celebrating the small joys, as well as facing challenges with a heart full of gratitude. It’s about tuning into the natural rhythms of existence, understanding that every experience, whether positive or negative, contributes to our growth and understanding. Through Reiki, we learn to harness this life force, allowing it to guide us towards a more fulfilling and balanced existence.
Accepting your life journey involves recognizing that each step, each detour, and each milestone has its purpose. As a Reiki Practitioner, I’ve learned that resistance often leads to more pain and struggle, while acceptance opens the door to healing and transformation. It’s about understanding that our life path is unique and perfectly tailored to our spiritual development. By accepting our journey, we release the need for control and allow ourselves to flow with the universe’s energy, trusting that we are exactly where we need to be at any given moment.
Setting boundaries are crucial for maintaining our energetic health. As healers, we often come into contact with various energies, and it’s important to protect our own energy fields. Setting boundaries means knowing when to say no, understanding our limits, and ensuring that we do not deplete our own resources. It’s an act of self-love and respect. By establishing clear boundaries, we create a safe space for ourselves and others, promoting a more harmonious and respectful interaction. This practice not only safeguards our well-being but also enhances the quality of our service to others.
Living life fully is about being true to yourself and your passions. In Reiki, we learn to listen to our inner guidance and to follow our heart’s desires. It’s about taking risks, pursuing our dreams, and embracing the fullness of our experiences. Living fully means being authentic, letting go of fear and societal expectations, and stepping into our true power. It’s about finding joy in the present moment and allowing ourselves to be fully immersed in the wonders of life. Through Reiki, we cultivate a deeper connection with our higher self, empowering us to live a life that is rich, vibrant, and aligned with our soul’s purpose.
