We asked entrepreneurs, artists, creatives and folks from every walk of life to share stories of kindness with us because we believe that hearing about kindness inspires more kindness. Our world needs more kindness.

Well that is very simple, the kindest thing anyone has done for me is my wife who trusted in me to be a good husband and friend, believing in someone is one of the most kindest thing you can do, but trusting in someone so strong you are willing to spend the rest of your life with that person, the kindest thing in my life is and will always be my wife giving me the opportunity to be a husband. For years I worked as a bartender in NYC while trying to get a record deal with my band after graduating from art school. For a long time I worried that I’d be slinging drinks into my old age if my music career never managed to take off, (and I was keenly aware that this was a more than likely scenario). Then, a guardian angel in the form of a regular at my bar swooped in and saved me. She was an art director in the garment district at the time. After seeing my work in the sketchbook I kept at the bar she began pestering me and asking if I’d be interested in trying out apparel design for her sometime. Read more>>

I remember making a piece for a client one day. I believe she had someone else pick it up for her, maybe her husband. But, when she actually received it, she sent me the nicest text thanking me for the beautiful job I had done. One thing in particular really tugged at my heart strings. In her text she said. “God Bless your hands.” I will never forget that. Here I was just doing something I loved and making art. I had never really stopped to think of “my hands” as something special. Over a decade ago, long before I realized just how much photography was my passion, a friend of mine gifted me a back drop stand, backdrops and lights. The whole set up! She believed in me long before I imagined I could do this professionally. For years, we would go out and take photos. She was a natural with make up, wardrobe and posing. She knew just how bad that I wanted to learn studio photography. From that moment on, there was a fire in me that made me want to learn so much more. Read more>>

The kindest thing anyone has done for me is when Grace Berbig, Letters of Love’s Founder and President, gave me the opportunity to become the Vice President of her organization. I would not have had the courage or direction to pursue my art as a profession had it not been for the mentorship, inspiration and support I received from fellow artists on the Sunshine Coast, British Columbia, a haven for amazing and talented artists. In particular, the generosity extended to me by acclaimed artist Marlene Vermeulen was pivotal. I attended Marlene’s art retreat in Spain and it marked the start of my art career. Read more>>

I met Heather who works for lululemon through mutual friends. We would see each other at events and gatherings and we always greeted each other like we were friends for many years. In the beginning of 2023 Heather reached out to me about the run group I lead and lululemon having a joint event. Like a 5K. She asked for my email and said that she would be in touch. A few weeks went by and she asked if I could have a zoom meeting with her. During the meeting I took notes. She was speaking about the brand and how much they have changed and have real people represent them. Read more>>

The kindest thing anyone has ever done for me is the invaluable introduction to Master Chef Dorian Hunter. Her role as an inspirational guide and true friend has been a beacon of kindness in my creative journey. I’m profoundly honored that she graciously contributed the foreword for my upcoming cookbook, “I Love Lori’s Plant-Based Life.” This gesture not only reflects her appreciation for my work but also highlights the genuine camaraderie that can blossom in the world of creative entrepreneurship.
