We asked entrepreneurs, artists, creatives and folks from every walk of life to share stories of kindness with us because we believe that hearing about kindness inspires more kindness. Our world needs more kindness.

Probably the most significant moment occurred during one of my first trips abroad to Italy when I was 7 years old. As a child, I was painfully shy around strangers, but I distinctly remember being on a train with my parents and being captivated by the coolest woman I had ever seen. She wore a super chic outfit with a very 90s, fuzzy Italian-made scarf. I kept whispering to my mother that I really wanted to buy one just like it by the end of our trip. Read more>>

The kindest thing anyone has ever done for me was my mom, not giving up on me. When I was 10 years. old my parents separated and it was devastating. I was a daddy’s girl and when he moved out we didn’t speak for 3 years because their divorce was messy. I went through years after that of sneaking out, drinking and doing drugs, skipping school, and pretty much anything I could to get into trouble. About the time I was 14 or 15 my mom brought me to a therapist who recommended I be sent to boarding school. My dad agreed as well even after us trying to rebuild our relationship. Read more>>

Life gets kind of boring for me when I don’t have a rotating plate of options. Right now I am directing a documentary on wrongful convictions, filming and producing a series of short films about refugees, filming and producing entertainment content for youtube channels, building an off grid homestead and maintaining a creative community. Oh, and I’m recording a bunch of music for a secret project that not even my wife has heard. I like doing different things. Read more>>

The work that I do has grown out of a personal desire to not only discover my roots and newly found culture, but to share my story with others that are on a similar journey. My path has taken me to alot of unexpected places that have tapped into untold stories. What I have found is that the story of my ancestors is just like so many others. That similarity with other descendants of enslaved people has lead to an amazing response of gratitude and appreciation for what I have been told is “tending a garden of culture and information.” Read more>>

I love this question! I have been blessed to have many acts of kindness in my life. There is one act of kindness that touches my heart in a really good way. My story is that I began to write empathy greeting cards when I was in a dark spot, and seeking some way to heal and make the world a little better. I have no training as a writer or as an artist, so this was all an experiment. I began to create greeting cards using hand-lettered fonts and type fonts. Believe me, I’ve made a lot of kind of ugly things. Here’s where the kind act comes in. I enjoy selling products at holiday markets, and I bring a box of different empathy cards to the markets. After a year of being a band, we started picking up traction in different parts of the country, so we decided to put together a tour in summer of 2022. Because we are unsigned artists and really trying to pick up traction on our own, we started a “go fund me” to try to help finance the tour, and make it possible for us to see people who have been listening to us throughout the East Coast. Just last week on a United flight, I sat next to a young man who worked for United. We were both flying from Orlando to Sacramento. We chatted during the flight about his family and where he grew up. The Denver to Sacramento leg got cancelled. He found me sitting on the ground charging my phone. He told me there was a flight with open seats going to Reno which is just 2 hours away from Sacramento. He brought me to a machine to transfer my ticket so I could get home that night. I had been gone for 6 days and really wanted to make it home. Without his help, I wouldn’t have. Read more>>

I have been fortunate to receive numerous acts of kindness from many wonderful people! Among the most heartwarming gestures are those that foster a deeper connection. One such recent example stands out, involving a talented painter whom I greatly admire. She took the initiative to write a heartfelt note expressing her admiration for my artistic talent, asserting that the world could benefit from more of my art. Her words touched me deeply as she acknowledged the courage in my artistic expression and shared how my bravery has inspired her as well. Read more>>
