Oh great question, there’s definitely a few that come to mind. My piano teacher Mr. Woytiuk from when I was really young. He believed in me since day 1 and always encouraged me to explore my creative process more. I think if it wasn’t for his kindness and patience I would have probably quit piano right then and there. I made some mistakes, but I was still a good person. I was not your traditional path taker when it came to the school, college, good job route. Having them by side helped me stay in line and kept me from serious trouble. Through all that they were always there for me when I needed it. As I look back on it, they took care and looked out for me a lot. Read more>>
Just the other day, a childhood friend randomly sent me a message telling me she had a dream about me and my business that led her to want to donate to my vision. That was so sweet of her. Read more>>

There was a receptionist at one of the very first salons I worked at as a new Beauty Industry Professional. We called her Ms. LaVerne. I was a young mom with 2 small children, going through a divorce. I was working hard to figure it all out while building my clientele. Ms. LaVerne was paid individually by every independent contractor who rented a booth but when I tried to pay, she would not accept my money. Read more>>

After working with a few weathly clients, they stepped back and wanted to give the gift of working with me to others. So, they set up a scholarship fund from a non-profit they had built. It’s hard to pinpoint one thing, as I have been fortunate to have good friends that have helped me. In my last semester of my bachelor’s, I was a young single mother of two boys. Read more>>

I had a very challenging childhood riddled with struggles and insecurities in school and at home. I had never contemplated being an actor, in fact, my first passion in life was dance. However, by chance, at a very low point in my life (and I would argue a very pivotal time in my life), an opportunity arose. My mom had been reading a newspaper and came across a “cattle-call” for a Disney feature film production that was being conducted in the major US cities as well as in Canada. Read more>>

As a freelance storyteller working across journalism, film, podcasts and content marketing, the kindest thing a friend or former colleague can do is recommend you for projects. When I’m close to finishing up a contract with a client, I start searching for my next gig. It’s a bit of a rollercoaster ride of emotions as it can feel like you’re always chasing for your next paycheque. Read more>>

Before I pursued art as a career, it was a creative outlet that often left me frustrated and discouraged. I wasn’t loving my finished pieces and wanted to give up. A friend and fellow artist took note and encouraged me to continue creating as much art as I could. He told me I wasn’t going to love every piece I created, but in every piece I could find something I loved. Read more>>

My industry is extremely competitive. I am often interviewed by very successful people to sell their home. Being in such a competitive environment, there are always at least 2-3 other brokers I am competing against. Read more>>
