As a business owner it’s easy to feel like your work is never done – because no matter how much you do, there is always more that could theoretically be done. Many business owners we’ve spoken with also feel that they have a responsibility to be available to their team and that if they step away they are putting an undue burden on their team. So, we wanted to hear from a broad range of business owners on whether they take vacations and we’ve shared some of their responses below.

Due to the nature of my business , sometimes taking vacation seems impossible . So for the last 3 years I have been turning my work trips into work-cations . I always try to include a few days after job completion to relax , unwind and enjoy the space I am in. It’s my goal in 2024 to just PAUSE more and take more time for myself and my family. Read more>>

In a lot of ways, this is something I’m still working on. In my day to day, routine around my business is ever changing for the better but a process nonetheless. When it comes to taking a vacation this is the one thing I know I will always take at least a month off on purpose. Travel is a big part of my life and what drives me. Proper vacations are admittedly somewhat rare for me, but I do at least manage the occasional trip every now and then. As a freelancer, my business is a one-man operation that I only need my laptop and an internet connection to conduct, so if I’m being honest, a vacation tends to involve less stepping away from the business, and more taking the business on the road with me.
