As a business owner it’s easy to feel like your work is never done – because no matter how much you do, there is always more that could theoretically be done. Many business owners we’ve spoken with also feel that they have a responsibility to be available to their team and that if they step away they are putting an undue burden on their team. So, we wanted to hear from a broad range of business owners on whether they take vacations and we’ve shared some of their responses below.

I don’t know if I would categorize my travels as vacations or even business trips; maybe excursions or adventures. Our last expedition had us trekking through the humid jungles of Indonesia, meeting up with native bladesmiths who were eager to present their artisan knives to us. Yes taking a vacation is a must for me . Vacationing is vital for my business , its like hitting the refresh button. I need that for myself because it keeps my creativeness fresh and new. Yes, as a photographer I feel like it’s fairly easy to get a vacation. The way I take vacation is I tend to book photoshoots in different states, which is a cheat code for me. So every time I go out of town, I find a way to work and mixed with pleasure! I definitely take vacations. It’s how I keep going. I love to travel & explore and I’ve built my business around the ability to travel. My family loves traveling with me so whenever I have a wedding out of Houston, we turn it into a family vacation. We usually go a few days early & stay a few additional days after the wedding, to make sure we enjoy the city and have some fun. I feel that time off & vacations are paramount to my mental sanity.
