As a business owner it’s easy to feel like your work is never done – because no matter how much you do, there is always more that could theoretically be done. Many business owners we’ve spoken with also feel that they have a responsibility to be available to their team and that if they step away they are putting an undue burden on their team. So, we wanted to hear from a broad range of business owners on whether they take vacations and we’ve shared some of their responses below.

Yes and no. It is safe to say that most people probably consider a vacation 1-2 weeks long, with five consecutive days off of work. In this sense, I did not take a vacation. For me, the thought of working a job for 30 or more years, where the only reward for my time was money, just so I could take 1-2 weeks (if I am lucky) of vacation with the hope that it would distract me from the previous 50 weeks of work. In our particular business as drone pilots /aerial photographers, our work is a vacation. We have to be on location to shoot. We aren’t stuck behind a desk in an office somewhere. It’s always a new place, new people, new creative opportunities. We love what we do and that makes it a whole lot less like “work”. Read more>>
