As a business owner it’s easy to feel like your work is never done – because no matter how much you do, there is always more that could theoretically be done. Many business owners we’ve spoken with also feel that they have a responsibility to be available to their team and that if they step away they are putting an undue burden on their team. So, we wanted to hear from a broad range of business owners on whether they take vacations and we’ve shared some of their responses below.

When you run your own business, vacations are crucial. The best time to grow your business to the next level is during vacations. The typical business owner is too busy working to think of amazing ideas that would make their lives easier. Instead, they just keep doing the same three things until they discover they have forgotten about their families, their company, or even the people around them. Read more>>

YES I take vacations!! I will scream it from the top of my lungs to any and every business owner…TAKE VACATIONS! As a business owner, I keep things going by taking breaks as needed. If my mind doesn’t tell me it’s time for a break, my body most definitely will. I spend a lot of time in prayer and listening for God’s voice and direction when it comes to my business. Have I always gotten it right? Have I made it to where I want to be as yet? No! However, I continue with my dream and vision for my business because I am not in this alone. For now it’s a team of two… me and God! Read more>>

Like anyone, I love to take a nice vacation each year. That being said, owning a business can sometimes make that challenging. I feel the pressure to keep my clients happy & get them in whenever possible. It has caused me to be overwhelmed quite a few times so I’ve had to implement a few rules for myself. As years go by I have learned so much on how to prepare my schedule ahead of time while also setting aside funds for not only myself but for my employees to be able to take the time off comfortably. My husband and I can now enjoy a vacation each year without the stress of not bringing in enough money for the time off or having to move my schedule around to do so. Read more>>

As a business owner who business is solely about travel. I think it’s imperative to take and make time for yourself to practice self care. Before, I became a full time entrepreneur in the travel industry I was a social worker for 15 years. The things that I’ve witnessed seeing and hearing from others while trying to manage my own grief forced me to practice self-care. My form of self-care and therapy for myself was traveling. I found so much joy in seeing new places, meeting new people, and just simply shifting from one reality to the next. I believe this what made me have a passion and love not only for travel, but group travel as well. I wanted others to feel exactly how I felt whenever I traveled to a new destination. Read more>>
