As a business owner it’s easy to feel like your work is never done – because no matter how much you do, there is always more that could theoretically be done. Many business owners we’ve spoken with also feel that they have a responsibility to be available to their team and that if they step away they are putting an undue burden on their team. So, we wanted to hear from a broad range of business owners on whether they take vacations and we’ve shared some of their responses below.

As a business owner it is very important to take vacations- and I mean actually take a vacation. It’s so easy to fall into the habit of traveling while still responding to emails, DM’s, sending invoices and posting to your business social media accounts. To this day I still struggle to actually ever truly disconnect from my business. I see this as both something I want to work on, as well as a good sign that I am still so passionate about the work that I am doing! Absolutely! It’s very easy to get sucked into the hustle and burnout culture, but I think vacations are a critical part of rejuvenating your mind and restoring your creative energy. Almost always I find that when I take time away I come back with some much excitement and oftentimes so new great ideas as well! When I first spotted this question on the list, I thought it was odd and plain. I later realized, this actually was a great question for a few reasons. The short answer to, “do you take vacations” is yes. As to why, just continue to read. Vacations for me mean an opportunity to have fun, connect with my family, relax, reflect and re-energize. I think it’s safe to say most artists ride a roller coaster of emotions throughout the year and I am no exception.
